hmmh gonna try and write a thing but if it stops abruptly that’s just bc i lost the feeling of writing but i wanna start it at least anyway
Elle is dreaming... she knows she is. That’s one benefit of the whole goddess thing... she can tell when she’s just dreaming and when someone’s getting in touch or sending visions or something. But this dream... hurts. Everything hurts. Even with that quiet awareness, it would be easy to get lost and forget that this isn’t real. That the painful, hot ash under her legs isn’t actually burning her skin. She’s on her knees, trying to breathe, and... someone’s gone. Someone that shouldn’t be. The fact that she can’t remember who it even is makes it worse. She lifts her head to look around, and... everything is gone. She can’t even place what it reminds her of, the buildings are so far gone. They can only be described as rubble and ruins, even though the embers are still bright.
Elle pushes herself to her feet, and it takes a few moments to do so with the dust coating the road beneath her. Once she’s up, she just... starts walking. Lets her feet take her where they may. The path feels familiar, and she finds herself stopping at the remains of one building. She can almost see it in her mind’s eye... tables and conversations being watched from behind a counter, fiddling with a green pen...
She feels an arm around her waist, but when she looks down, there’s nothing there. That makes the sensation of touch even more uncomfortable... but she tries to ignore it and steps over what used to be a wall. Inside, there’s shapes like people, but... they’re just shadows. So she leaves quickly. Something in her knows better than to look at them for too long, lest they look back. This time, she picks a direction to walk in, and she would hurry if she could find the energy... but she’s only got enough motivation to drag her feet through each step.
