I am writing this long duration blog of almost 5 days, not because I forgot but because I was not at home.. I was traveling. Kolkata or Calcutta, whatever you choose to call it, was the place. Everyone in India is aware of this place because it's a beautiful place to visit and is a metropolitan city.

Festive seasons in India for Hindus are basically over now. For Chhath, a major occasion of performing austerities and offering obesience to the Sun God( yes, Indians worship the sun and offer prayers, I think some of you might know). Have a look at it.. almost like this:

So,the Indian civilization worships the sun from as early as from the ANCIENT VEDIC AGE ( c.1500- c. 500 bce) so that's definitely a fairly long time.

Presently, the above mentioned festival is predominant in North India, where the state of Bihar celebrates it with a great pomp and show. Women offer prayers and fast for about a week or so(at this time, some only consume water and no solid food!!) And on the day of the main event bathe in chilly cold water and break their fast.

So, at some places preparation are on the high for the festival, like in Bihar and it's even celebrated in other neighboring States of Bihar like Jharkhand.

So, India is a place of wide range of interests, culture and réligions and we are still united. And I hope the state will be as it is now... flourishing and happy.
