Dr. Beau, while definitely not a good person, was also victim to the merciless hands of their organization--they were desperate to provide results to save their own hide, an effort that would go entirely wasted. Hopeful ambition soon turned to desperate and cruel acts before their eventual demise.
It’s intelligent and wary of humans, so while it wouldn’t seek out a hug for fear of being seen, it would be confused and appreciative if it ever did get one.
When you’re a being of pure mind and soul without brainmeat and endorphines to keep stuff in check, intrusive thoughts take on a whole new dimension.
The monster totally knows this guy’s a ghost from the start because in either backstory scenario (monster is a victim vs. monster is former scientist) they were the one who killed him.
it likes fruit! Big sweet tooth in this thing. It has a high caloric demand but has had to scavenge dumpsters and such since its escape so it eats a lot of junk.

How close were Ardi and plum?
They were very close, up until Ardi was summoned to the palace to become their resident Enchantress.
Ardi and Plum were actually born Soojin and Hyejin Joo, in a far-off country, and were forced to flee to Vesuvia to escape persecution for their magical practice. They changed their names to Gardenia and Plumeria Pearlforger (Jinjoo means “pearl”), and opened up another magic practice.
They ran it together for a number of years, and Plum took Asra on as an apprentice, before Gardenia received a summons from the palace to perform a consultation. After performing excellently, she was invited to stay as a resident adviser, and was unable to stay in as much contact with her sister as before.
Ironically, the sisters did briefly reunite while they both were quarantined on Lazaret, although they were both so mentally incapacitated that they barely recognized each other.
I just watched the whole episode and omg there are definite times that u can see the disconnect between them, either the McElroys make jokes that he doesn't get/expected or he made a shitty line and u can just see the unamusement on griffins face
