Hey, Noah (infinitelyqueer) here. Bubs [Adzie] has asked me to help out with this ask because she’s not completely sure on what to say about this kinda thing, I hope that’s okay. Of course, bubs and I are in no place to tell you what to do about this kind of thing, because it’s more about what you want to do, which stated was to tell him that the truth; that you aren’t straight. In this case, I would suggest telling him. If I’m okay to ask, what scares you about telling him that you aren’t straight? Whenever you’re telling someone that you aren’t straight, you need to put yourself first in that kind of situation because you need to ensure that you can feel as safe as you need to be as well as as comfortable as you can be (of course this isn’t always the case which is unfortunate). If you do choose to tell him, I would definitely recommend to highlight the only reason that you hadn’t told him when he asked was because you were with your friends, and in that situation you didn’t feel entirely comfortable (or whatever else) to be able to tell him the complete truth then. Again, you feeling safe and comfortable is the priority when telling people you aren’t straight as it isn’t always an easy thing to do.
