I'm Misha (he/him preferred, but others are fine), young adult. I'm a queer Russian socialist. I suspect I may also be autistic. This is my main blog.
I have a sideblog called moskvishacreates where I make original posts about my OCs and my other media interests, including art, writing, edits, text posts, etc, follow me there for that. Originally the blog was strictly OC-centric, but as of May 2024, I also decided to move my original fandom posts there.
If you'd like to ask anything, feel free to send an ask! (Anons are temporarily off.)
I add image descriptions to images I post myself, but mostly don't add them to reblogged ones.
Feel free to scroll through my "#positivity" tag, I reblog positivity posts sometimes. This includes positivity for people with stigmatized mental illnesses, like Cluster B disorders, OCD, bipolar, etc.
I try to tag triggers, at least ones I'm aware of. The format is "#cw: [thing]", like "#cw: flashing", "#cw: blood" or "cw: violence", and a handful are abbreviated by either simple shortening or use of initials like "#cw: sui mention", "#cw: ed mention", "#cw: sa mention" or "#cw: csa mention". If there's anything you'd like me to tag, feel free to ask. I don't often post or reblog nsfw, but my tags for it are "#cw: suggestive" and "#cw: nsft stuff".
Also, I try to tag posts like "reblog this if you think x", "good luck posts" and other stuff like that with "#reblog bait", and generally try not to even reblog them in the first place these days. (Note: fundraiser posts won't get the "reblog bait" tag).
A few more things:
Do not repost/reupload my work or any other artist's work without permission. And get that permission before posting, instead of posting and saying you'll remove it if they ask. Ask for permission, and if they say no, or they don't reply, don't post it.
I don't care what labels or pronouns people use, even if I don't understand them, as long as they're in good faith. Xenogenders, neopronouns, "contradictory" labels, whatever, idgaf.
(This does not apply to rad/queers; no, you cannot "transition" into being autistic, ADHD, intersex, a different race/ethnicity, etc.)
Tme/tma are intersexist terms, this post by an intersex transfem explains why. In general the whole "tme" thing is just a disingenuous way to group other marginalized people in with the dominant/oppressive group and imply they hold the same structural power just because they may not experience this specific flavor of bigotry.
The Shinigami Eyes extension is run by radfems and is not a reliable way to identify who is and isn't pro-trans. Use your own brain, learn radfem dogwhistles and rhetoric (here are some of them), etc.
I block pr0ship/c0mship/pr0fic/whatever on sight. Carefully exploring a dark subject is great; treating it as a "tee-hee silly shipping trope" akin to Tall x Short or Fire x Ice is not doing that, it's trivializing and cutesifying the subject.
I realized I should really put this zine's important info into one big pinned post. I'll try and go over everything I can think of, but I might add stuff as time goes on.
WHO I AM: Hi! I'm Moashley (https://mogosketchpad.tumblr.com) and am solo modding this zine. I am a studio art student studying online art, digital media, and fandom communities.
SOCIALS: https://twitter.com/BTeamZine and this blog
EMAIL: [email protected]
APPLICATION FORM: https://forms.gle/dDBurx6VtBhKdHMa9
PRICING / DELIVERY OF PRODUCT: This is a digital-only zine. Since we're not physically manufacturing anything, I want the final zine to be cheap if not completely free. I'm considering making it a "donate what you'd like" situation, and donating any profits to a charity of the contributors' choice.
MEDIUMS: The digital medium allows for some cool stuff that isn't possible in physical zines. Music, animations, and other digital-only art are absolutely welcomed.
ZINE CONTENT: This zine welcomes any and all iterations of TMNT! Any official TMNT release is fair game.
THE RESEARCH PART: My undergrad thesis project is made up of the production of this zine and a research paper detailing the zine creation process, the effect modern fanzines have on online fandom communities, and artists’ personal relationships with the creation of fanzines. This will, for the most part, be a pretty normal zine experience for contributors. Contributors will pitch ideas for their pieces for the zine, create said piece, and can volunteer to participate in surveys or interviews regarding my research topics. Surveys and interviews will function on an opt-in system. Surveys/interviews are NOT required, and contributors can just create their pieces for the zine without participating in them.
EXTREMELY TENTATIVE SCHEDULE THAT IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE (updated 2/17/24):
November - December 2023: Interest Check + project setup January 12 - Feb 9: Contributor applications open
February 25: Pitches due
March 5: Check in 1 (just a sketch/proof that you've started the project)
March 20: Check in 2 (most of the way done with your pieces)
April 1: Final Check in
May at some point: I complete and release my research.
June 1: Zine is fully formatted and completed.
Copies of the zine will be available for purchase on Gumroad, probably. This schedule is a bit more fast-paced than most zines, and that is because I graduate in May, haha (and, as you can see, I don't even plan on fully finishing the project before then without rushing y'all unfairly.) Because of this, I don't want anyone to feel pressured to make some incredibly high-effort craziness for this zine. This is just for fun, and to study the relationship we as online creatives have with fanzines. If you end up a contributor, make something that is enjoyable, relaxing, and comfortably completable for you.

hello could you help me, i wanna write a story were onw of the characters is autistic i want a little help is there some sites about it
First of all, I’m very glad you turn to the autistic community. I’m sure you’ve seen this written a bunch of times, but just to be sure: please, please stay away from Autism Speaks. They demonize autism (basically saying autistic people ruin their families and would be better off dead). They promote a “cure” (which means aborting children that test positive for autism genes) and abusive “therapy”. A good post about why ABA is bad is HERE.This is a very good post on what to look out for in research.Tbh, I don’t go on other websites as much, so I’ll put some links of stuff that I know. For a general understanding, you can look into the DSM-V criteria (the offical criteria to diagnose autism). This won’t give you much to write a lively character, but with all the resources, it can be overwhelming. You should also definitely check out the organizations run by autistics, such as the Autistic Self-Advocacy Network and the Autistic Women’s Network.Autism is a spectrum. (See here for an explanation on what that means.) No two autistics are the same, and experience the world the same. An important tip I read was “don’t make autism their only defining trait” (it’s the same with race or sexuality, really). It’s tempting, since autism is literally affect how our brain works, but it’s better to do it in subtle ways e.g.
sensory differences (HERE is an example for sensory issues)
executive dysfunction and how to deal with it
overstimulation (also called sensory overload; common, but not universal)
the empathy thing
Eye contact
Voice stuff
“Atypical” Traits
How do special interests work?
Comorbidities and how the influence our perception of autism
Example: PTSD and Autism
This is a very cute comic that gives an overview over common issues and how to be a good ally.
For inspiration and relatable things, you can definitely check out the #actuallyautistic tag! If you need examples for sensory things: Sensory hell and Sensory heavenIf you look on tumblr, you’ll find tons of examples for stimming. The trick is obviously to write it in a way that doesn’t degrade it (especially happy flapping has become a meme that basically says people who flap are R*tarded or just insane). That goes for all autistic behavior.
Another big topic is ableism. Warning: You will fuck up. We all do. I’m autistic and I still struggle with internalized ableism a lot. That includes automatically thinking autistic behavior looks weird, or not being able to express it, hell I haven’t even told more than four people in real life I’m autistic. Autistic is still used to mean something negative and you don’t shake that easily. Just be critical of your own thinking.Ableism has many facettes, too many for me to line up here. Some include:
Not listening to us: People who talk are “obviously” too high-functioning to speak about autism, people who can’t talk are not assumed to be able to express an opinion.
Everyone has met at least one neurotypical who assumed they knew more about autism than an autistic person.
Medical ableism: Goes both directions. Either autistics are treated as if we could not make decisions, even as adults, or our problems are dismissed, especially other symptoms
Sexism: Women much less likely to receive a diagnosis or to be treated for medical problems both. Resources masterpost on autism in women
An article about lack of diagnosis in autistic women
Abuse: Can range from emotional abuse (e.g. guilt tripping, gaslighting) to physical (e.g. provoking a meltdown / sensory overload on purpose), usually both
Generally just ignoring an autistic person’s boundaries.
“Autistics are only worth something if they have a special talent” (basically Rain Man)-> dehumanization in general, “we’re not human for not having certain traits / abilities”
There’s also this huge debate on self-dx (see this post for example). In many places diagnosis is expensive and can have a lot of disadvantages (e.g. looking for jobs). Self-dx involves a shit ton of research, months and years of it, really. (Just like you are doing now!) My humble opinion: Psychologists fuck up as well, see the ableism section.
Here is a post on how to get diagnosed as an adult. And here is a post on self-dx!Here’s my story of getting diagnosed (maybe less relevant, but take it as a real life example)
Media representation of autistic people is unfortunately complete garbage for the most part:
This post has a lot of notes with people telling what irks them about media representation of disability in general. Here is a post on why The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time )a pretty popular book that we read in school as “education” about autism) is a bad representationA post on ableism in the series “Good Doctor”I couldn’t find a cohesive review of the show “Atypical” and I haven’t seen it myself, nor do I intend to, but if you go in the #atypical tag the autistic community is very clear that it’s bullshit (and also backed by Autism Speaks, so big surprise)Billy from the new power rangers is autistic! And from what I’ve heard he’s actually well-written. (A post about what the writers did right.)
Things to avoid (unless you present it in the context of ableism / being negative):
cure rhethoric
functioning labels / mental age rhetoric (See this post)
The distinction aspergers and autism (I can’t find the post explaining in detail why it’s bullshit but here’s the short version: Aspergers is an outdated concept (in the new DSM-V it doesn’t exist anymore, you’re just autistic) and it has been used to separate the “good” autistics from the “bad” (it’s ableist and a functioning label basically)
Here’s also an explanation on Aspie supremacists
emotionless character
person first language (Here is a post on why PFL is bad)
white little boy with special interest in trains (they do exist, but it’s overdone)
he’s autistic BUT- (insert special ability) Click Here
Here is a post explaining our preference for the autism label above othersHere is another post on writing autistic charactersLastly, I recently found a very good post about the difficulty of calling a character autistic in writing, you can check it out here.
I probably forgot a ton of important things, so if anyone wants to add something, please do so; or shoot me a message, whatever is more comfortable.
The universe these characters are in consists of our regular world and a magical realm, with travel between the two being possible, increasingly so in recent times. Some people and descendants of people originally from the regular world live in the magical realm, enough to populate at least one city.
(Here's some info about various characters)
Yevgeny "Zhenya" Tsaritsyn (he/him, she/her, it/its): early 20s, Russian, ambiamorous pan aegosexual, demiboy. ADHD.
He comes from a religious conservative family, and as a teen, he was kicked out of home when his parents found out he was queer and an atheist. Through pure luck, Lev happened to come across him and brought him to the magical realm and helped him get a place to stay, where he still lives to this day. Meanwhile, Lev has become a mentor and a father figure to him.
At one point later in life, Zhenya lost his entire left arm, which is now replaced by an advanced prosthetic. He has been working out and doing combat training for a while now, and after losing his arm he has been training both with and without the prosthetic, so if he ever has to work without it, he doesn't become lost, not knowing what to do without both arms.
He also plays bayan (a type of accordion).
Joseph "Joey" Lebedenko (he/him): early 20s, Ukrainian American, omni demisexual, cis. Autistic.
He's studying culinary arts, and he's also good at drawing. He speaks Ukrainian fairly well and loves to visit his Ukrainian grandparents. He's also Jewish, and he plays ukulele. He's friends with Zhenya.
Lev Sapozhnik (he/him): 40s (technically much older), Russian, achillean arospec asexual, trans. Autistic.
He's a powerful magic user, who was born in the mid 1920s and used to be a Soviet supersoldier known as the Red Hope (ru: Красная Надежда; translit: Krasnaya Nadezhda), mainly serving during WWII. He defected in the mid 1950s and later went missing during a storm at sea. He was presumed dead for decades, until he was found in the late 2000s in a sort of "frozen" state and then unfrozen. The reason he wasn't found sooner is because he was only searched for in the regular world, while he actually ended up in the magical realm.
In present day, he's not affiliated with any nation state in the regular world, and he lives in the magical realm. He explicitly opposes the current Russian government, which they are unhappy about, since they want him back in their military, and they don't want him to potentially inspire currently depoliticized Russians to actively oppose the government.
He's fluent in Russian, German and English, can speak some Georgian, and is learning Spanish. He also plays guitar and is skilled at drawing and sewing. He's a regular at the cafe Cyrus works at and is friends with him.
Desmond Yang (he/him): 40s, Chinese, bi, cis. ADHD.
He's a mage. He's multilingual. He's a historian and a linguist, and he's the owner of a library in the magical realm, which contains books in several languages. He has translated multiple books into other languages, and he has some original writing projects of his own. He's also friends with Lev.
Marco Gromov (he/him): 31 y/o, Russian Argentinian, bi aceflux, cis. Autistic, ADHD.
His name is technically Marcos, but he has largely dropped the 'S' at the end. He wears glasses with purple lenses. Technology and clean/renewable energy are big special interests of his, and he's currently trying to create more efficient solar panels, being quite skilled with tech. He's also dating Luna.
They're a mage, and they're also a pretty good artist. Their special interest is astronomy, and they know how to find out what position stars and planets were in at different points in time. Another interest of theirs is plants, particularly flowers. They have a few fidget necklaces. They're also dating Marco.
Reynaldo Rosado (he/him): early to mid 50s, Dominican, aroace, cis. Autistic.
He's the father of Luna. He realized he was aroace after he and Melania already had Luna, and while they chose to get divorced, they remained friends. Luna largely stayed with him, and he's a kind and supportive father to them. He's also good at cooking.
Melania Espinosa (she/her): early to mid 50s, Dominican, straight, cis.
She's the mother of Luna. She remained in Luna's life after the divorce. She eventually got married again, and her new spouse turned out to be a trans woman. They chose to stay married, since both still found their relationship fulfilling, and she still loved her wife despite not normally being attracted to women. They have two daughters together.
Lilah Swift (she/her): late 40s/early 50s, Australian, sapphic cupiosexual, trans. Autistic, ADHD.
She's the wife of Melania, who she has two daughters with. She chose not to do voice training and has a higher masculine voice. History has always been an interest of hers, and she has a PhD in it, but in recent years she has also become interested in specifically Russian history, in part due to meeting Lev.
Daughter of Melania and Lilah, half-sister of Luna and older twin sister of Viv. She works out, and she likes to play fight and compete with her cousin Howie.
Daughter of Melania and Lilah, half-sister of Luna and younger twin sister of Sam. Wears braces. She loves frogs and is generally interested in learning about nature.
Cyrus Swift (he/him): mid to late 50s, Australian, gay demiromantic asexual, genderqueer/genderless, intersex. Autistic, ADHD.
He's the older brother of Lilah. He can shapeshift into a cougar. He retains his sharp fangs and ability to purr even in human form. He has scars on the right side of his face and his right arm, which he got during a fight in his cougar form. He's partners with Steven and they have two children together. He works as a bartender at a café, and he sometimes performs as a drag queen.
Steven E. Burns (he/him): mid 50s, Jamaican, pan acespec, trans. Autistic.
He's Cyrus's partner. He has been living in the magical realm with Cyrus and the kids for many years. He enjoys working out and is still in good physical shape. He works as a P.E. teacher at a local school. He also plays guitar.
He's the son of Cyrus and Steven. He has an interest in mechanical engineering and tech. He works out and is practicing hand-to-hand combat. He also plays guitar, having learned it from Steven.
Melissa "Missy" Ito (they/them): 28 y/o, Japanese American, bi, genderqueer, intersex.
They're a journalist working for a reputable small to mid size left-leaning outlet, and they are also a good photographer. They have interviewed both Lev and Marco before.
Harley Fisher (they/them, ze/zir): early to mid 20s, Canadian, aromantic bisexual, transmasc genderfluid.
They're a small to mid size streamer, mainly streaming video games. They're also Jewish.
Andreas Marinos (he/him): 31 y/o, Greek, ambiamorous gay, cis.
He can transform into a mermaid, and he has water powers (hydrokinesis), as well as magical singing. He has a passion for theater and is himself an actor/performer. He's also dating Lorenzo and Ozan.
Lorenzo D'Amore (he/him): 30 y/o, Italian American, polyamorous omni, cis.
He's fluent in both English and Italian. He's a singer and theater actor/performer, working alongside his boyfriends Andreas and Ozan. He also plays the saxophone, and he's into 70s fashion.
He's mainly a DJ and generally works with sound equipment, though he is also a singer and theater actor/performer. He works alongside his boyfriends Andreas and Lorenzo. He's a lover of light up shoes and tacky colorful clothes.
Brenda O'Connor (she/her): 50s, British, aromantic, cis.
She has healing powers. She's also a highly skilled surgeon, specializing in several kinds of surgery. She was the one who performed Lev's top surgery.
