Base concept:

If I had to pick an absolute favorite thing about radiostatic, it would be just how many variant names fans have made– there is nothing I love more than clear categorization! I wish all ships had that!

However, it saddens me that this nomenclature isn't quite universal in regards to how people tag their work, making certain posts impossible to find when searching for the variant it fits (example: few people tag for radioheadless) while other tags searchability is lessened by cluttering with other variants (example: radiosilence and staticsilence often have radiostatic showing up, or sometimes even each other!)

It was this thought that made me have the idea for this blog, a centralized place aiming to sort through radiostatic posts and tag them accordingly.

Importantly, however, my goal lies solely in the archival and curation of an effective searching system for different radiostatic variants– it is not my intention to shame people for tagging their posts 'wrong' and if anyone disagrees with my categorization of their post they are more than encouraged to tell me to remove it or change the tag. Please do not take my retagging as an attack

Modum operandi:

Although this blog aims especially to find untagged work for certain variants of radiostatic and clean up the searchability for overtly tagged ones, I will also be reblogging perfectly tagged works– as the ideal experience would be getting as much of whatever it is you want at the moment as humanly possible with as little effort as possible!

The initial focus will be in sorting through older posts that may predate certain tags they would not fit into, as well as smaller variants that are harder to find

I will try to find, to the best of my abilities, as many posts as possible for every category and, later, sort through as much of the main tag as I can but I won't be reblogging EVERY post– I'm just one person after all.

Due to restrictions on my time, it is likely that I will primarily reblog fanart rather than fanfiction. Due to restrictions on ambiguity i will base my reciprocity tags on the original poster's tags if there is nothing on the post that contradicts it. For untagged posts, I will think about whether people searching for a specific dynamic would like to see it and, if applicable, tag accordingly. Again, feel free to voice any disagreement about my choices if you dislike how I tagged your post !

I will also try to remain unbiased in my choices, however with something like this it is nearly impossible for some of my personal preferences not to come through

Addendum: while I will keep ship tags as they are due to the purpose of the archive, i decided to have a little fun with the other tags, but I would like feedback on it, if my system muddies the waters more than it is amusing, I will change it to regular tags

A small explanation of terminology you might see here:

Isizwe - This is a Zunda dialect (Xhosa, Zulu, Southern Ndebele) word which is usually translated as "tribe", "clan", "kingdom" or "people". Considering this broad range of meanings, each with their own connotation, I prefer to just use the term as is. The plural for isizwe is izizwe.

Nkosi - Another Zunda dialect term that is translated to mean "king" or "chief" depending on a variety of factors. Some people (including the modern South African state) delineate between Nkosi "chiefs" and Nkosi "kings" but in most cases there was never really a divide like that.

Kumkani - A Thembu term that refers to what other izizwe would call the Nkosi Enkhulu (or "Eldest King"). This is one of the terms that delineates a "King" from a so-called "Chief".

Ntu-speaking/speakers - I use this term instead of the more common "Bantu" because in a South African it is somewhat passé in a similar way to Negro or Colored. This refers to people who speak "Bantu" languages - I have a disdain for people conflating linguistic grouping with peoplehood (I.e. the idea of a "Semitic" people) so referring to them as Ntu-speakers is more sensical to me.

Khoena (Pronounced Kwe-na) - A semi-indigenous term that refers to people who may have been engaged in a pastoralist economy and spoke a dialect which could be grouped under the modern terms Khoemana or Khoekhoegowab. More commonly you might see the word "Khoikhoi" or the more orthographically correct Khoekhoe used but I prefer Khoena over Khoekhoe personally. There's also the question of whether there should be an ethnicised term for these people but thats heavily debated.

Sān - A term that comes from the Khoemana/Khoekhoegowab language which means "forager". Historically it's not an ethnicised term and could refer to any group which engaged in foraging but today tends to refer to non-Ntu-speaking foragers. The older word for them is "Bushman" and there's a parallel with the term Indian wrt Native Americans in that many prefer the term "Bushman" to the term "Sān" which is a somewhat alien term to them. There are parallel terms for foragers in other languages like abaThwa in Zulu/Xhosa and baSarwa

What is a CDD?

Apparently, since this discourse is from months ago, but I still see a misinformed post getting passed around, I want to give my own thoughts and feelings and information on the subject, and hopefully spread more factual information, rather than to leave people confused.

CDD is sort of a community made term (sort of being that it is a medical term, but the definition is more community based). It was supposed to encompass all dissociative disorders that cause systems as an overall term for them. Not that other dissociative disorders are not complex, but that system disorders are more complex on the rung of the theory of structural dissociation. If your disorder doesn't cause you to have alters, then you're not included in that. People wanted a term to specifically separate dissociative disorders and the dissociative disorders that cause systems, so we could have our own category, and we don't have to clog up tags and otherwise for general dissociative disorders.

So what does fall under CDD? What are the disorders that can cause systemhood? Before I get into this, as an aside, you do not have to have many or any alters to fall under this category. I saw this as a point of contention in the post. Those who have reached final fusion and no longer experience identity alteration, still have the disorder that caused that previous identity alteration, as there is a possibility that they could still split. There is no cure for DID and disorders alike. I just wanted to point that out there.

The disorders that fall under the community term, "CDD", are DID, C-DID/PF-DID, P-DID, OSDD-1 and UDD. I'll get into the definitions down below.

DID, also known as dissociative identity disorder, is a disorder characterized by the presence of two or more distinct personality identities. The individual also has to experience dissociative amnesia, although it does not specify what type of dissociative amnesia, seen as any gaps or skips in memory of everyday life, personal information or of past/current traumatic events. Since it is a disorder, it also must distressing or it must disturb the individual's life, causing dysfunction. And these symptoms must exist on their own and without influence from specific cultures or substances.

C-DID/PF-DID is what's known as complex or polyfragmented dissociative identity disorder. I'm unaware of whether or not you can get diagnosed with this, but it is medically recognized. This disorder has many definitions from different sources, but the main consensus is, that this disorder is characterized by complex organization and complex splitting. This can include subsystems, for certain types of trauma, side-systems, complex alters and fragments. Due to the number of fragments, a pf DID system can appear or be large, as fragments are not fully formed alters and can split and fuse easily. If you'd like to know more, I have plenty of posts on my blog discussing polyfragmentation, as well as there being a full tag right here on tumblr. There is not a specific minimum of how many alters you can have in a polyfragmented system, that is a myth.

P-DID, also known as partial DID, is something that can be diagnosed in the ICD, and is characterized by a single dominant personality identity (alter) and several alters off to the side, impacting the ANP's (apparently normal part, also known as the host) daily life. The non-dominant alters usually do not front or take control of the consciousness, but exist as intrusive feelings and emotions. These alters can be less defined, such as being like a child, disoriented in the present, or stuck replaying a traumatic event. These personality states chronically discontinue identity and self agency.

OSDD (or DDNOS in the ICD) is known as other specified dissociative disorder. OSDD-1 specifically matches the definition for DID, except for a few missing criteria. By community definition, you may have heard of OSDD-1a and OSDD-1b. 1a is similar to P-DID, having less defined and elaborated alters, but still having dissociative amnesia. 1b is having no dissociative amnesia but having well defined and elaborated alters. These definitions are only community, so if you don't fit specifically don't worry about it. And it's only OSDD-1, as it causes a system, OSDD-2 through 4 do not, so it doesn't matter to talk about them in this case.

UDD, also known as unspecified dissociative disorder,  is characterized by symptoms clinically consistent with dissociative disorder but not meeting full criteria for any of the disorders in the dissociative disorder class. It is partial replacement for the previous diagnosis of OSDD. Like all disorders, it causes impairment and dysfunction in the individual's life. It is when no other dissociative disorders quite match the symptoms of the individual in question. I include this because it can include system disorders, as well as non-system dissociative disorders.

All of these fall under the group acronym of CDD, Complex Dissociative Disorders. No one is writing other disorders out of existence, nor is it meant to intentionally confuse people. It is in fact, the opposite, and to broaden and include all disorders that cause systems. Because I know most of us are sick of hearing a mouthful of acronyms, every time we would like to discuss our own community.

jay is the current captain of the new squidbeak splatoon! they’re an inktoling originally from just outside inkopolis plaza ^^ they joined the nss when they were 14 after being temporarily banned from turf war. they are currently 20 years old and dating four (agent 4) and amber (agent 8)!

agent 4 (four, they/them)

four is agent 4 of the new squidbeak splatoon! they’re an inkling and they’re currently 21 years old! they joined the nss when they were 16 recently after they moved into the inkopolis square area. they are dating jay (captain 3) and amber (agent 8)!

agent 8 (amber, they/she)

amber is agent 8 of the new squidbeak splatoon! she’s an octoling originally from the octarian domes and they are currently 20 years old! she joined the nss unofficially during her time in the deepsea metro, and officially about a week after they escaped (she was 17). she is dating jay (captain 3) and four (agent 4)!

neo is the new agent 3 of the new squidbeak splatoon! they are an inktoling originally from the octarian domes, and they are currently 15 years old. as of the time this post is being written, they have not officially joined the nss.
