How Megan Thee Stallion's documentary got me feeling:
Midwife story: When you can't stop a premature birth but can save a mother. “The mobile clinic was at the St. Paul Church in the village of Roy Sec. I met a woman there, she was G4 (four pregnancies) but no babies had survived. After doing the education session, I did the chlamydia and ghonorrhea test. When I inserted the speculum, I saw the water bag coming and ready to break and her cervix was open. She was 23 weeks pregnant. We didn’t want her to deliver so we brought her back to the hospital. She delivered that same day, they couldn’t do anything to stop it. The placenta did not come out and they had to manually remove the placenta. If that mom has stayed home to deliver her baby, she would have died. The baby was born alive but then it died. It was sad, but the mother survived and for that I am grateful. My name is Philomène Thelemaque, I work at Mobile Clinic and provide our data reports to Haiti's Ministry of Health. I graduated from Midwives For Haiti in 2009, Class 2." #birthstory #haiti #inherwords #midwife (at Hinche)
