✿ — the whispered confession reached her ears and she almost choked on air. Her fingers stopped playing with the piano keys and her eyes fell upon him. The very first seconds after that action were spent in silence, Fiorella being unable to find the correct words to translate her feelings into words and complete sentences. “I-I…I mean…uh—what?” Despise the jittery feeling that controlled her heart, her lips were still able to put on a show, creating a loose, almost relaxed smile.
Her hands left the keyboard and the sound he hated so much was no longer filling the musical instruments store. With shaky fingers, she adjusted the hair band that now seemed to crash her skull. “Uh, I have no idea what you are talking about.” In the speed of light, she got up from the seat they shared and turned around, walking towards some guitars while wiping her hands on her jeans. The thing was that she knew what he was talking about; she knew exactly what he was talking about.
A few years ago, when she was still a piece of new meat in Seoul, they met for the first time. It didn’t take long until she developed the biggest crush the mankind had ever seen on him. Her heart had always been weak anyways, so feeding platonic feelings for him turned out to be something rather easy. But things didn’t turn out like she wanted them to. Obviously, they didn’t end up together as a couple; but they managed somehow to continue hanging out as friends. The subject became a forbidden one and she thought that it was long gone and forgotten, yet his words expressed the opposite.
How nicely she aged. Fair skin with long hair that seemed to have not sustained any damage. Angelic voice to coincide with her wonderful playing. Just how things were back in high school, nothing changed. Well, he did unfortunately. Everything about his past, he regretted and not paying the slightest attention to her, was one. Till this day he doesn’t know what she saw in him. After all he was nothing but a delinquent on a path to nowhere. Then again, she wasn’t the only poor soul to have an eye for him, yet she was one of select few he remembered.
“Things seem to be well for you hm?” He doesn’t press on the matter just yet seeing that it caught her off guard. Not like he wanted to in the first place, words being a mere slip of the tongue. Chuckles emits when she’s all flustered. He found it rather cute. “Still playing instruments, continuing your education as well.” Body is turned in the seat, forearms rested on thighs when he hunches over, eyes never leaving her sight. “Unlike me.” Dropping out of high school senior year without a word to anyone. Practically disappearing from the world he lived in. Everything he’d learned skilled wise not really put to use like they should be. In the end a lost cause trying to make his way in life. “Perhaps if I would’ve took a second glance, things wouldn’t have turned out the way they did.” So busy trying to take the easy route, he looks over the good. In the end having a pregnancy scare with an ex, even after he was long gone from anything school related. Truly someone who shouldn’t get involved with anyone, especially someone as lovely as her. All happened in the past, years ago but he still remembers clearly and still compares it to what it’s like being with her. “So why?” Another slip of the tongue, perhaps thinking out loud. A question to be answered, nonetheless, so he doesn’t take it back.
