🌈is there a fic that you worked really fucking hard on that no one would ever know? maybe a scene/theme you struggled with?
a lot of the ones that fall into this category for me are ones where i'm writing a character or a set of characters i've never written before, and for that reason, standing at a broken altar stands out to me as one of those.
there are others that i started writing and scrapped and then rewrote about 2-3 times before they became the final story; the secret santa exchange i participated in this past december was one of those cases, when i literally went through three different rewrites before i landed on the story that resulted. the story that resulted, however, came really easily when i finally found it, so i'm not entirely sure it counts, in and of itself? but the process to get to that story was a bit of a struggle.
🎙️which one of your fics would you like someone to make a pod-fic of?
i offer up the infamous rick astley fic from 2009. it's stupid, someone could do voices, go for it, i give my full permission. like, i don't run from this fic, i embrace it, if you want to get to know me as a person this is a pretty good barometer of that.
🤲what do YOU get out of writing?
i think, in a word: understanding. i write to understand characters and i write to understand connection and i write to understand the world and i write to understand myself in the process. this is why characters and emotions etc are more important to me than plot, because at least for me personally, the stories that are most impactful are ones where i less remember what happened in them, and more how they made me feel, and achieving that is also something i get out of writing. and, like... it isn't a requirement, but it's really awesome when someone says my writing connected with them and made them feel something, too, because what are stories for if not for sharing and saying, "hey, do you understand this? i'm not alone in this world, right?"
i think i lost the plot of this question a bit back and this is why my stories have no plot, bah dum tssss
