Neokita Short Fics (Friendship & Fluff)
someday-renee and I exchanged short stories about one of our OC OTPs not too long ago: my character, Inkita and her character, Neon. They’re Galactic: Kids Next Door OCs so they are aliens, and they’ve been besties since they were babies.
They were based on old Tumblr prompts. Mine was something like writing a story in 3 sentences, and hers was something like writing that person A comes across an old toy of person B's; how does B react?
(I think they’re about 10 years old in these)…
Inkita watched every day as Neon concentrated all of his focus and energy into the space between his hands. And every day, she wondered if she was really doing enough to show him how much she believed in him, and supported him. And every time he presented her with a new crystal gift, a result of his hard work, she could feel his energy spread from the gift and warmly wrap around her-a sign that maybe her presence was enough after all.
Neon and Inkita sat on the floor of Neon’s room. The two were currently focused on a videogame, both battling the other for justice.
"Come on!" Neon cried out, his fingers frantically flying over the buttons on his controller. "Turn left, turn left!"
Inkita giggled at Neon’s antics, “Ready to give up yet?”
"Not even close." He replied, not taking his eyes of the screen. "I’m gonna win this—"
"Neo! I can’t reach the cookies!"
Neon’s little sister’s voice echoed throughout the house. Neon sighed and paused the game. “I’ll be right back.” He got up and headed toward the door, but not before turning back to the girl seated on the floor with a glare. “No cheating!”
"Pfft!" She waved him off, watching him go. "Like I need to cheat." She shook her head as she heard Neon converse with his baby sister. She already knew the outcome. As firm as he tried to be with Syani, it wouldn’t be long until he gave into her pleas and gave her what she wanted. Her delightful giggles and his light laugh only proved her right. Neon was such a softie.
Inkita busied herself by looking around Neon’s room. It hadn’t changed much since she had last been here yesterday. The same posters of athletes still hung on the wall. Dirty clothes were still piled up high in a corner. And that red teddy bear still sat in his closet—
Wait…
A red teddy bear?
Curious, Inkita walked over to the closet to get a better look, she poked her head in and gasped at what she saw. There was a teddy bear all right. The same one she had given him when they were four years old. Before reaching for it, she chanced a glance at the door; the coast was clear. Inkita scooped the plush toy in her arms and hugged it close to her. A warm fuzzy feeling coursed through her body. She couldn’t believe he kept it, and in such mint condition. A minute later, she heard footsteps coming up the stairs, and quickly put the doll back where she found it.
"Sorry that took so long, Sy got greedy and started asking for cake and—" He stopped mid-sentence when he saw where his friend was standing. "Why are you in my closet?" He asked giving her a skeptical gaze.
Inkita shrugged, closing the closet door as she did so. “I was just admiring the mess you have in there! I’m surprised you haven’t gotten lost in that thing!” She commented, walking over to take her seat next to the game console. “Ready to get your butt kicked, again?”
Neon, picked up the game controller, “Hmph! We’ll see who wins this round!” He said, completely forgetting their earlier conversation.
Neon never mentioned the teddy bear and Inkita never brought it up, but knowing that he kept the present she had given him so long ago meant the world to her. Even if her friend didn’t know it.
(Yay! Our OC babies are so cute! Lol! Thanks sis)!
