@Inktober day 30: Catch . I guess I was hopeful, in imagining Zorya Vechernyaya catching a star, bringing good fortune...🌟 . In Slavic mythology, there are two Zorya sisters Zorya Utrennyaya who represents Dawn or morning, and Zorya Vechernyaya who represents Twilight or evening. However, in Neil Gaiman’s (@NeilHimself) American Gods, there are three sisters, the third being Zorya Polunochnaya who represents midnight. 👯♀️🌙 . Considering Neil Gaiman’s love for the three Fates (the Parcae I mentioned in Inktober day 20 T(h)read), I’m convinced that the Zorya sisters are also an allegory for them: • Zorya Utrennyaya tells poor lies and can’t quite tell fortune because she just spins the thread of life 🧶🌅 • Zorya Vechernyaya is good at telling fortune because her job is to measure the thread of life 📏🔮 • Zorya Polunochnaya tells no lies because she cuts the thread of life and there is no room for lies in death ✂️💀 .
