Ace is a good boy and very very well trained.

But that doesn't mean he doesn't get Silly.

He is very still and calm if Alfred washes him but with Bruce and the kids? All bets are off.

Biting the water or soap. Laying down or standing up opposite of that they want. Stealing the hose and running off with it. Even rolling in the mud made from them washing him, happily panting when he gets admonished for it.

He does this with everyone not Alfred, even Damian. Especially Damian. He just gets the kid to be a kid for a bit and can usually rope Titus into his shenanigans too.

Then when they are done soaking him, he makes eye contact with someone. Bruce. Jason. Even Damian.

They run.

He chases.

Once he inevitably corner them against the back sliding door, whoever inside would lock the door and Ace shakes, getting them completely soaked.

(Dick is his favorite to do this with because he gets super into it, screaming and pressing against the sliding door, begging the person to let him in and sliding down the glass sobbing. It's a full Emmy winning production 😂😂😂)

Way back in 2014, I took my first real stab at finishing a manuscript for NaNoWriMo. And I succeeded, the only year I ever managed that. Of course, it was a rough draft and an utter mess, dragging in the middle and sorely lacking in the subplot department, and needed a thorough redo.

I've been working on this sucker for over a decade. I've restarted it twice, from different perspectives, tried to build it a little differently, but something wasn't quite clicking. Every once in a while a new idea would occur to me that slotted perfectly into one of the plot holes, and I'd write that down.

And in the last 24 hours I've gone in, outlined out an actual backstory to support the plot, and re-outlined the whole thing.

It's so very different from the original idea. It's less sprawling epic, with a much tighter plot. It still needs some development, obviously; it's still lacking in the subplot department but at least now I can see where one needs to fit. What was originally mere backdrop to the setting has now become the core of the plot. It's funny how that happens.

Anyway. Don't throw away your old ideas. You never know when and how they'll be useful later.

not to natter on about Lilith and Danny again, but like, they can move and remove their head in unnatural ways and Bruce just doesn't realize how desensitized he has gotten to it until like canon Batfam watch in mute horror when Lilith, who had just woken up from a little nap, had her head on incorrectly and Bruce just takes it off and replaces it correctly with all the nonchalance of a parent wiping crumbs off their child's face and they are reeling

But because it's too serious they never really did anything silly with it. So in my verse, I am going to have him change it to emoticons to like reassure little kids or just because he felt like it. Especially after Jazz joins in.

Jazz does it more than him since she has a softer reputation but sometimes they do kissy emoticons at each other. Just bored on patrol and just

Their daughter, Natalie, uses it a lot for emoticons like those tiktokers that use those masks that has them. Nightwraith (Melody) also uses them for emoticon eyes like hearts and stuff but if the eyes are missing then she is there to wreck your shit.

As someone who has been dragged into rugbytok I do not understand how NOT ONE FICT OR COMIC have Bruce say he plays rugby. Homie is built like a rugby player - the thighs, the big chest, the need to wear tiny durable shorts - IT ALL FITS

Hell it would be nice exercise if he was in a local Gotham amateur team. It's great bonding with Jason and the other kids since it's a contact sport. My fellow Batman writers, since DC are cowards, let Bruce be a rugby player!
