After finding a laying hen on the edge of death this morning, I have new appreciation for the eggs I eat. Once she died, I gutted her to feed to the dog and I found that laying hens have a queue of yolks lined up to be shelled. This is crazy cool, folks! I'm squeamish about outright killing a creature but once it's dead I will go all scientific to see how the body works. I never learned this much in high school science class. I never wanted to.
