I wanted to share some children’s insect books I am fond of! I have sort of started a collection - ones that I think are especially cute or just unique. (Part one)
1 - Sounds of the Wild - Bugs - Maurice Pledger A gorgeous pop-up book that makes sound! (Although, mine no longer does, unfortunately ;u;) 2 - Noisy Bug Sing-Along - John Himmelman Includes descriptions of sounds that insects make, including sound waves, with some nice art. That mole cricket makes me smile... 3 - Christmas Cricket - Eve Bunting / Timothy Bush The most adorable Christmas story featuring a cricket! The illustrations are beautiful and very cute.

Rubi is a cartoon leaf-cutter ant filled with stories and no one but herself to share them with as her ant sisters don’t talk. When Rubi meets another creature that does talk, it’s a game changer. Can the two work out their differences and learn to listen to each other?
What fun! Not only is this graphic novel packed with fun information about insects and nature, but it’s a compelling and adventurous story! It felt very nice to open my brain up to these different “creepy crawlers” and see how they function, along with an underlying plot point about how the world is much more complex than “good” and “bad” creatures. It all depends on your perspective!

I have a soft spot for the Mantis family and my favorite one is the Jeweled Flower Mantis!
