So, I wore a bunch of live cicadas on my hat to a little event held by some friends to promote the eating of brood x cicadas (they taste like pistachios) as well as their conservation (reduction of pesticides and such).
And what I didn’t know is that a news crew came and got some shots of my ✨fancy✨ hat. My hat must have been popular because at the next event....
I got fanart❤️
Imagine this - Entrapta is pregnant with her and Hordak's baby. She has been suffering from morning sickness and Hordak is concerned that his wife is not getting enough nourishment. He keeps coaxing her with very bland tiny foods, like mini breadsticks, crackers and small gingerbread men, but she isn't very enthusiastic about eating. Then, all of a sudden, she gets a craving. Hordak is thrilled - but very surprised it's for INSECTS! Entrapta has never touched them until now. 😅
I generally keep clear of pregnancy headcanons, so I’m just going to share this without comment for anyone that might enjoy it.
Eating a dead frog
Noriaki Kakyoin, and no- this isnt the temperance version at all! It’s true boy, the true kakyoin- the r e a l boy.
what you said about cow killer wasps reminded me of bullet ants. i dont know if i remember right, but i think the bug guy who told me about them when i visited peru said theyre supposedly the most painful bites ever. do you know much about that, and if it is true? also i ate wood ants off the ground and the soldier ants taste like mint toothpaste to deter predators (the workers just tasted like wood lol)
Bullet ants are a 4 on the Schmidt pain index, so I ain’t about to go and find out for myself if your bug guy was right or not.“Level four you don’t want to know,” explains Dr Schmidt.“The pain is so immediate and intense that it shuts down all illusions of life as normal. Imagine sticking a finger in a 240 volt electrical socket.”Here in thailand, weaver ant queens and larva are commonly collected and eaten in the north eastern provinces. I’ve never tried them, myself...I wouldn’t eat anything fresh off the ground, though...you just have no idea what those animals have been tracking through prior to ending up in your mouth.
Fleas and ticks, though... Wouldn't Catra get them? Kadroh's Kitty Kare Salon to the rescue! "Get rid of the itch without a hitch!" Got bedbugs? Roaches? Pickles' Pest Patrol services! "You hate them, we eat them!"
Pfffh. Okay. There’s a reason humans generally eat cooked insects. Raw insects carry pathogens and parasites, and I have got to imagine that the ones that eat blood have to be particularly risky to eat.
Also, I’m drawing my line at fleas and ticks. Let them eat (cooked) locusts and crickets and scorpions and, yes, tarantulas! But I do think the insects would have to be both nutritionally dense enough to be worth the effort of catching. And cooking.
Those bold stripes look like decoration… but the tongue behind them is a tool built for termite time. How does a marsupial become so specific? And where do the reintroduced ones actually fit in? Swipe closer there’s a whole routine under the bark. Meet the numbat’s strange little world.
