It’s me...or for those who don’t know me, I’m Emma.
I created this blog on a bit of a whim, when I had a whiff of inspiration. I love to write and once I’m inspired there’s no stopping me, however writers block is an actual thing and it can sometimes take me months to feel that twang of inspiration again.
Today however, the sun is shining, I am partway through a relaxing 3 day weekend and I’m feeling like this is as good an opportunity as ever to tell you a bit about me and what I’m hoping to achieve here.
I am consistently motivated by travel. It is my one true love, the love that keeps me going when I am having the worst day at work. The why am I here kind of day. The answer to that is without a doubt, you need to finish paying off your trip, or...it’s been too long, shall I book another trip? Knowing full well, the answer to that question is ALWAYS yes.
I’m 26 years old and have been lucky enough to visit 16 different countries. That’s not 16 trips though, I’ve been on holidays to the same country, sometimes 3 or 4 times. That might seem like loads to some of you, or not a lot to others, however I can definitely tell you I’m sick with the bug. If I’m not travelling, I’m thinking about travelling, or writing about it. I eat, sleep, breathe and generally survive on a constant budget, so that when I get the chance, I can book a trip and as they all say in the movies, get the hell out of here!
1. UK (This might seem like a cheat as I live here, but I’ve travelled the length and breadth of this country. It really is beautiful.
2. Greece (I’ve been to Thasos, Zakynthos, Crete and Kefalonia).
3. Turkey (Dalyan and Kalkan).
4. USA (Travelled across California <3).
6. India (I volunteered and lived/explored India for 3 months. Definitely one of my highlights!).
7. Spain (Tenerife and Barcelona).
8. Africa (Morocco - Still one of my all time favourite places).
9. Portugal (Porto and Lisbon. If you ever get the chance, you should visit both. They are so different).
10. Italy (Rome and Milan).
11. The Vatican (Again, maybe another cheat one, but it is technically a different country!).
12. Malta (Mainland and Gozo).
15. Slovakia (Bratislava).
Not too shabby if I do say so myself.
Now the reason that this list is important, is because this is the list I’m going to talk you through, but also build upon.
Each time, I feel like opening up my laptop and writing, I’m going to introduce a new blog on one of the places I’ve visited, sharing my loves, my hates and any tips on how to best enjoy the experience.
I feel like I’m missing something though; 35x35 you might ask?
It’s your username, so how does it relate to any of this? Well...
My goal is to visit 35 countries by the time I’m 35 years old. It cannot be a country I have revisited, it’s not 35 holidays. It must be somewhere new and I must go specifically there, an airport layover does not count and if anyone says they do, they are a liar!
I hope that you are interested to read about my experiences and that I can achieve this task. I want to be able to share the wonderful places I’ve visited and hopefully inspire you to get those passport stamps!
If there is a country you are visiting and would like to hear about first, drop me a message and I’ll see what I can drum up!
