Sarılmak neden güzeldir bilir misin? Çünkü sağ tarafta kalp yoktur ve orası hep boştur. Sarılınca sağ tarafını onun kalbi doldurur. Sağ tarafımı doldurur musun?
One day I was talking to my sister about beauty trends specifically body types and how they changed throughout the decades. We ended up looking up what was the ideal body type for women throughout history. It was kind of weird how the ideal body standard would constantly change. Starting from 1910’s to now, the body type would go from either hourglass to thin, curvy to no curvy, big hips to little hips, etc. This made me wonder how women were held to meet these standards. Imagine you were a woman in each of these decades and you had to constantly try to fit these standards. I would have been miserable and would have hated the way I looked. While my sister and I were talking about this we kind of both were like at least now we don’t have a certain body type to look up to. We kind of live in a world where you can be tall/short, thin/thick, curves/no curves. However, the more we think about it we realize there is a body standard but this time there’s two types of ideal bodies. If I had to give you a visual representation of these body types, I would say it’s Kendall and Kylie Jenner. Now let me explain. As I was talking before on how the body standard would go back and forth from thin to curvy, now we have both options for women to choose which body type either to be on the thin side like Kendall or curvy like Kylie. By the way, I don’t want to shame Kendall and Kylie for their looks or blame them, I’m just using them as examples. Let’s think about Kendall and what her body and face represents. For one her body is thin, she’s tall with long legs, has smaller breast, small waist, but slightly small curvy hips. We can also look at her face, she has high cheekbones, plump lips, and a pretty thin nose. I would say she represents the typical runway model. You can also look at the friends/coworkers she hangs out with: Hailey Bieber, Bella and Gigi Hadid, and other Victoria Secret Models. I mean it makes sense because she is a model but most of her friends have a similar body type to her. If we switch over to Kylie, I would say she represents the Instagram model, think Fashion Nova Models or Insta Baddies. Her body is an hourglass figure with a really small waist, while her face has big plump lips and bigger cheekbones, and long hair. Kylie’s friends include StassieBaby, formerly Jordyn Woods, and others. By the way, I chose Kylie instead of Kim because when Kylie got her lips done, everyone else got them, so she became the new beauty/body standard. I mean it would make sense why I would choose sisters from the Kardashian clan to represent the ideal body types because that is what their whole brand is based on. I also want to say that you don’t exactly have to have one or the other body type, because that would be impossible if everyone looked like Kendall or Kylie. I just used them to point out the common “requirements” I guess you could say that makes 2010’s to 2020’s body type. It is also important to know the the ideal body type throughout time never included women with regular sized waist or being on the heavier side. I think I will also be working on a post about beauty trends and why some are toxic to follow.
Just made an Instagram account which is going to be like this but shorter and hopefully more aesthetically pleasing. See you there?
