Passing is not the default trans experience.

Passing is not the default transmasc experience.

The experiences of passing trans men should not be treated as the default experience of trans men. The experiences of passing trans men are not more male nor more trans than that of non-passing trans men.

There is no default trans experience, and it’s not okay to treat a more privileged type of trans person as the default trans person.

Non-passing trans person deserve respect. Non-passing trans people deserve to be heard. Non-passing trans pride deserve to have their experiences treated as worthy and equal.

Do not treat passing as the default experience for any demographic of trans people.

// On the left, probably the first image I ever drew for the blog proper. Almost 3 years ago now. Previously I hadn’t really drawn in over a year, I was deeply depressed and creatively bankrupt and coming out of not one but three abusive relationships, two of them being fairly long term (one of them familial). I’m sure even drawing this small bust took me hours to do. I thought I’d stay for a month until people got bored of me like they always did and I’d have to find the next thing to occupy me.

On the right, my most recent drawing, nearly 3 years and two drawing program upgrades later. I have my ups and downs and my health has declined over time more than it’s improved, but in other ways I’m taking better care of myself and I’ve definitely improved as an artist and as a person. With all the combined sketches and proper drawings in my folder I have over 3 years worth of work (if you measure 1 drawing a day).

When I say Tumblr saved my life, to me it’s not an exaggerated term. I really am grateful, despite any hardships, drama, frivolity, or whatever’s shaking up the community at any given time.

I’m so grateful for all of you. I’m glad you’re all here. If you weren’t, who knows where I’d be? I can’t say if it would be better or worse, but I can say that I’m so thankful. So thank you.

Once again my friend recommended a truly excellent series he who fights with monsters which has literally the stupidest premise and all u can say about it is “guys from our work ends up in high magic/fantasy world and also has a personal video game interface” BUT ACTUALLY it’s high key about perseverance, the friends you make along the way, and helping people because you have the means and the will to do so.
