you don’t need to imagine it anymore
I'm glad self-inserts and mary sues have been (for the most part) accepted by fandom. Or, at the very least, they aren't as hated on and attacked as they were in the past.
In the ye olde days™, 12-year-old me was absolutely terrified of making a "mary sue," to the point that I wouldn't post anything I made. Even worse, the characters I did make were dull and boring to achieve "realism." God forbid would I even THINK of making a character that was anywhere close to me as a person. Luckily, I was able to grow past this and started making art that made me happy, no matter what others might think. But what about the other 12 year olds who saw that their OCs were "bad" and got discouraged? There's so many people out there who stopped engaging in art simply because they made an OP character.
Creating characters is about expressing your creativity and feeling a connection to your art. It's going to be a different, unique experience for everyone. For one person, that might mean making a gritty, realistic OC. For another, it could be making a perfect version of themself to ship with a character they like. If making that "bad" mary sue is what makes someone happy, let them do it! Focus on what makes you happy and thats what matters. (live and let live basically).
Basically, if you want to make a character, DO IT!! Make that Undertale self-insert that dates Sans! Draw your neon pink alicorn princess pony! Feed your inner-child and create what makes you HAPPY!!!
Headcanon: Tim Drake Regrets His Internet Habits
Tim Drake is chronically online. Like, if the internet had a landlord, he would be the one paying rent. He can find anything—obscure government documents, black-market deals, secret underground fight clubs, and, unfortunately, the forbidden texts.
By forbidden texts, I mean fanfiction. More specifically? The very detailed, very questionable, very steamy fanfiction about the Batfamily.
It started as an accident. He was doom-scrolling at 3 AM, as one does, sipping on his fifth coffee of the night, when he found a fic tagged: "Broody Billionaire x His Devoted Protégé 👀🔥"
Tim thought, Huh. Weird. Wonder what this is about.
Click.
Tim immediately regretted it.
Because it was Bruce. And it was… very descriptive. And it wasn’t just Bruce. It was Bruce and—
OH GOD, NO.
Tim slammed his laptop shut. Took a breath. Reopened it. Because morbid curiosity is stronger than self-preservation.
And that was how he spiraled into the absolute nightmare that was Batfamily fanfiction. There was shipping. There were scenarios. There were pet names. Pet names.
And worst of all? The amount of fics about him.
TIM.
TIM DRAKE.
THE THIRD ROBIN.
People wrote things about him. Steamy things. With other members of the family. And some of them weren’t even that unrealistic, which somehow made it worse.
Tim tried to look away. He really did. But it was like a car crash—you hate it, but you have to look.
It only got worse when he found the self-insert fics. You know the ones. The "Batman adopts me and now I'm part of the Batfamily but also in a love triangle with Nightwing and Red Hood and also I have superpowers and a tragic past but everyone loves me" ones.
Tim read five. For research.
Then he made the mistake of telling Jason.
"Wait, wait, wait," Jason wheezed, practically in tears. "You mean to tell me… you found Batman fanfiction? Like, full-on smutty fanfiction?"
Tim deadpanned. "I found fanfiction of us."
Jason froze. "…Us?"
Tim just nodded.
Jason opened his mouth. Closed it. Then stood up. "Yeah. No. I'm out. I'm leaving Gotham. Forever. Tell Alfred I love him."
And then he walked away.
Tim swore to never tell Dick. Ever.
But Damian? Damian somehow found out.
And that was how Tim woke up one morning to find Damian standing over his bed, holding his laptop, his expression utterly disgusted.
"Drake."
Tim groaned, rubbing his face. "Damian, what—"
Damian turned the screen toward him.
Tim glanced.
It was a fic titled: "Little Demon x Replacement - Forbidden Love ❤️🔥"
Tim screamed.
Fun experiences you have when you're autistic: experiencing something that irreparably psychologically damaged you, but no one you talk to about it recognizes how bad it was or how much it affected you. Yes, that was, in fact, traumatic.
I saw a homestuck sticker on a car today and stared at it with such shellshock that the person I was with had to ask me if I was okay.
Hope you had a good day peeps. :)
Why don't overlords ever have an online meeting?
(TW foot fetish, soft p0rn)
Recently, two stories came to mind. The first was when I was searching Google for some cute pictures of Rex and Randall, and a foot fetish picture popped up with Randall having his feet tickled with feathers. The second was when I was searching for pictures of Randall in MaW and found an image where Randall is the CEO of M.I. and Celia is massaging his feet.
the internet is crazy bro. every day I live in fear, scared that one day I might accidentally say something out of pocket and then I'll just get viciously, mercilessly cyberbullied
