Types of AO3 Usernames
There are 11 types of usernames on AO3 and for some reason my brain wanted to categorize and list them:
1. The I smashed a keyboard with my head username: you didn't want to or couldn't come up with a username so you keyboard smashed it to improvise.
2. The witty pun or well thought out names: you spent a long ass time coming up with a clever pun or name that has a niche reference or joke.
3. The Blorbo and Numbers Username: exactly <- that. You have a blorbo you love so much you [legally] changed your name to theirs. And/or you have married them via your username But oh no, your blorbo already dating 10000000 people. So take a number and get in line.
4. It's literally just me but make it kinda clever username: you have brilliantly tweaked your name so it sounds cooler.
5. The Obscure Reference Only you and the Deity of said subject will Get Username: you know that one book/film/show only you and five people have enjoyed, you love it alone but that means you are the president of that fandom on AO3. Congratulations on the promotion.
6. Random Object or animal that has replicated: I'm looking at you "X number of racoons in a trenchcoat."
7. Self Deprecating Username: You don't take yourself too seriously so why not be "IdiotBot2000"?
8. Deliberate String of words and numbers that form an actual word: good4u, go10d for you.
9. The I love X thing Username: You like a subject or topic and it is now your life. Good luck!
10. The Sex Joke or Innuendo Username: Yup, you belong here on Tumblr at the horny queers party.
And finally...
11. The Celebrity or Creator Username: you want to pay homage to your favorite star or the creator of your piece of media.
Bonus:
The Combo Username: Everything, everywhere all at Once. The sky is the limit. Put it all into an unholy amalgam.
