Future career and skills gained
How has my internship been a benefit to my career as a health practitioner?
Based on my experience with this internship I can see myself working as a health advocate or health consultant for families, communities, and for businesses. The drive for such a career comes from wanting to help others and promote health for individuals, so they can achieve a higher level of life-quality through healthy lifestyle changes.
Being a personal trainer adds to my professional career of being a health practitioner by letting me being very hands on with individuals seeking to achieve their goals. It motivates to motivate others and through the GNH education (module 5&6) I have learned many great coaching theories and concepts that I use in my work as a personal trainer. (this doesn’t have anything to do with my internship, but thought it was worth mentioning)
Project management – my internship (Trelleborg in 2014 and Nordea in 2013) has given me the opportunity to facilitate and initiate my own projects and this has really given me the confidence and self-efficacy (belief in one’s ability to complete a task) to manage projects innovatively and professionally. Module 10 and 11 has particularly provided me with the skills and knowledge for proper project management.
Interning alone made me gain insight that in my future workplace I want to work with a partner or in a team of health professionals. I do not wish to be working alone on a project. This is because I feel that I work more effectively with a partner
