/pops back up to say before going to bed/ among the other things i need to do /looks at my long long list/ is put together a few little fics about inumaki. all my research on native japanese werewolves cannot be for naught.
a sampler:
inumaki's alpha can turn into a full actual real live wolf
it's their family technique. it's not been able to be manifest in a long time so there's some mononoke vibes going on
their family was very pushy with them developing their technique as far as it would go because no one in like a hundred years has managed more than a growl and some sharp teeth
the family is really kind of unbearable as a sorcerer clan. they're claim to fame is being part of raising Fujiwara no Hidehira (who apparently was cared for by wolves in his youth) and later protecting his son so they have a lot of historical clout but no strong sorcerers in the clan to back it up (not sure if they also have the thinnest thread of fujiwara blood in the family or if it's died out but leaning to the latter)
as a wolf, they're even more attuned to inumaki's scent cues so toge gets more ways to communicate without worrying about cursing his loved ones
it's a big deal when the "wolf princess" type alpha mates the "snake prince" type of the inumaki clan, their family isn't happy but what can they do. it's not like they don't match when it comes to cursed technique with their animal motifs
honestly think they have at least four kids over almost fifteen-twenty years but the last one is a bit of an accident
they run away to live in the mountains lol. like truly for real.
i like to think the first baby is extremely stressful because toge is worried about passing down his technique but it turns out having your alpha be an alpha and a literal alpha wolf is good for instilling obedience into the pups and they incorporate animal sounds that don't run as much risk of accidental technique activation and at least some of those kids have alpha's technique not toge's, for which he is grateful
