Hi JWB! I had a question about the track when Khushi leaves Shantivan at the end of the contract period. I understand that she leaves because she thinks her presence there is hurting more than helping and she is unsure about her place in Arnav's life and the status of their marriage. But, I don't understand the emphasis she keeps placing on "just XYZ number of days...and then everything will be fine". Why does Khushi keep saying to herself "I won't return TILL the contract is over" and he keeps saying "I'll get you back before the contract"....like why does it matter so much about these remaining 10 days? I mean, the issue is not about the 10 days but the fact that Khushi has left him (without so much as a hello hi bye bye) and Arnav wants her back. What does Khushi expect will happen at the end of those 10 days if she manages to stay at Buaji's house? And why is Arnav hell-bent on getting her back specifically before the contract expires? Related, like, what are the logistics of that 6 month contract? Once 6 months are done, the "contract" is done, but the legal marriage remains till they divorce? Or once 6 months are done, no marriage. They will essentially be in a live-in if they stay together? I mean the entire concept of contract marriages is nonsensical tv-land logic but I am just confused about the urgency that both Arnav and Khushi feel about the upcoming end of the contract especially because they never show us any resolution to that. They never explain what happened to that damn contract and the actual legal/official status of the marriage post that 6 month mark. Lol anyway sorry I know this ask is too convoluted and lengthy I just get so worked up every time i watch this track because I don't understand what is going on with their relationship and that stupid contract! Please shed some light if you can. Thank you :)
Hello lovely!
Time for all of us to be educated about marriages in India and just in case anyone who reads this knows the law - please feel free to make any corrections or give your own two cents.
THE '6 MONTHS MARRIAGE' MYTH
I am going with the fact that Arnav and Khushi are married under the Hindu Marriage Act. Thus Arnav and Khushi are legally married to each other until a dissolution of the marriage is filed by one or both of them.
Unfortunately I believe with the 'contract' Arnav (unintentionally) takes advantage of Khushi's lack of education - and the show (intentionally) takes advantage of the lack of legal knowledge the audience has.
There is no concept of contract marriage in India. You cannot legally draft a paper that goes "after six months this marriage will cease to exist". However, after six months you can file for annulment under certain circumstances because the law states that under one year a divorce cannot be filed in India.
Divorce and annulment are separate. Divorce can’t happen under a year, annulment can be filed after six months under certain circumstances in Indian law.
That night I believe Arnav and Khushi signed been two things:
(1) court papers to register their marriage under he Hindu Marriage Act (religiously the way Arnav married Khuhi is not recognized because he forced her - and even legally Arnav will fall in trouble if Khushi claimed she was blackmail but ofc she has no proof of such, she really believed his words) So yeah, smearing sindoor is literally to instill in Khushi - and the audience - that they're husband and wife because Khushi - and the audience - believe that those markings of a married woman makes a woman married where in reality (and for Arnav) it is the court papers that makes her his wife. In short the temple moment is neither religiously nor legally valid.
(2) Pre-Nuptial Agreement. Before signing their wedding papers I think Arnav and Khushi sign papers defining their assets. Assets mean properties, personal stocks, salaries, money, fixed deposits, jewellery , cars, anything of significant monetary value. During separation Khushi would be eligible for alimony based on annulment/divorce laws in India until a prenuptial agreement has been signed which enlists how much one person will financially get from the other in such a case. In this way Arnav protects all his assets and finance from Khushi because I believe in the prenup Arnav would’ve written that Khushi cannot claim a single cent from Arnav and that their finances are separate. FYI, it’s very normal and encouraged for couples to have separate finances in general. But in this case Arnav was making sure that apart from incidental cost of keeping her in his house (food, monthly essential expenses and clothes/jewelry that his family might spend on her) Khushi can’t gain a single rupee from him.
Side note: striping emotions aside, remember the way Arnav looked at the expensive clothes and jewelry Khushi received during Grah Pravesh and how he had noticed Khushi getting an expensive set from Nani post Heer Ranjha? (Post Heer Ranjha he accused Khushi of getting expensive jewelry from his family by manipulating them because she knows that she won’t be able to get anything expensive from him) Also Khushi doesn’t ever wear any jewelry apart from coloured bangles and earrings post marriage - a sharp contrast from Anjali and Payal who are ALWAYS wearing gold/diamond/gem sets. On a few occasions she’s also wearing her old clothes and it’s interesting to note that only her public outfits have changed - probably something Arnav spent for appearances or the Raizadas gifted her as such - otherwise her pajamas are the same as before, unlike Payal’s who wears silky gowns or Anjali who has sheer sarees designed.
So this was the plan, once the marriage hits six months Arnav and Khushi would file for annulment (you have to actually be married for a year to divorce a marriage under the Hindu Marriage Act but I think Arnav, with his influence, could push it to six months) and because they have a prenup signed they can quickly separate without the separation costing Arnav any of his assets.
But this is not what the show nor Arnav tells Khushi. He (unintentionally) takes advantage of her lack of education and tells her that they're contractually married for six months and once six months are over she'll not be his wife.
So poor Khushi, and the audience, literally think that the day six months are over - she'll cease to be his wife. So that's why Arnav is so chill when he's gone above his misunderstanding and isn't even keeping a six months check like Khushi - he loves her, he knows she feels for him, so he's not going to be filing for divorce! Thus there's really nothing invalidating their relationship.
Which is why he's like "oh Khushi I'll woo you before six months are done". It's not because in six months their marriage won't exist - it's so that she doesn't file for a divorce after six months! And at this point if Khushi doesn't believe in the marriage after six months - then it's literally the end of the marriage for them.
Because in a beautiful way marriage is important to Arnav because it is important for Khushi. And if it ceases from her end, it ceases for him as well. It's the one and only way he's bound to her.
And as I said above, one cannot file for a divorce under a year but considering Khushi was forced to marry and there has been no conjugal (sexual) relationship between Arnav and Khushi - Khushi can get an annulment at the end of six months and the court would likely rule in her favor.
But Khushi doesn't know that their marriage would've ended with them filing for annulment/divorce. She thinks that from 14th August (i.e, 6 months after 14th Feb) she won't be Mrs. Raizada. Hence she can't live in Arnav's house and he won't be her husband.
Which is why Khushi counts days and Arnav tries to get her within those days because it's important for him that Khushi is home within the timeframe she thinks the marriage ceases to exist. Her faith in this relationship needs to exist.
And because they patch up and there's no mention of a separation, Arnav doesn't understand that Khushi really believes that their marriage will end in about a week.
Arnav was actually an ass to tell her she’s contractually bound hence she cannot leave him when she tries to leave the house and the fact that Khushi’s retorts goes to that she doesn’t mind being sent to jail breaks my heart cause poor girl thinks marital contract is like an employment contract. She probably had no idea of what she was signing. Even now, she really believes Arnav’s words.
The simple fact that Khushi has NO idea that her marriage is neither ending, nor is she bound to stay at home nor the fact that filing an annulment will end the marriage - not six months time (that’s just the earliest an annulment can be filed) breaks my heart. And then Arnav is stuck in his own words - he put an expiry date of their marriage to her (also remember that he uses Akash and Payal’s marriage as opposed to any legalities to threaten her with the contract cause legally he cannot, he targets her sentiments because he knows he can bend her to his will with that).
Yeah I know it sounds very toxic. It was. I nearly stopped watching the show when he pulled the contract and then became her boss for 24 hours and took away her own place of refuge from him - and she doesn’t even know the property is in her name.
Then I take a deep breath and remember the fact that this is fiction! And there are fantastic actors to look on screen.
Also these things appear worse in analysis as opposed to watching on screen. We hear Arnav’s apology (a mental one that Khushi doesn’t hear when she needs to) and that kinda makes the audience root for him? I would’ve too - if they followed up with the track Arnav promises in his head.
Also, Arnav has truly apologized to Khushi for much less in the show so I don’t get the critique of “Arnav wouldn’t typically apologize” - honey he malfunctioned for 24 hours because he couldn’t say sorry to her for talking to her rudely on his parents death anniversary (even tho it’s wasn’t his fault that he didn’t know she was an orphan). Men who apologize are hot, they’re sexy.
But yes this whole context also shows Khushi’s urgency to remarry Arnav during the Dadi thing.
There's no mention of 'contract expiring' when six months have passed. Because there's no contract as such in the first place. So imagine her horror - Khushi doesn't raise the matter of the contract with Arnav once he apologizes to her and buys her gifts, probably she thinks it'll be a conversation for another time and there's time before 10 days are over and then there's the whole Dadi thing going on - but I think when Khushi learns religiously her marriage had no validity as well (which was the validity Khushi was leaning on) she rushes to Arnav and asks him to remarry her.
In her eyes the six months HAVE passed and she's living with him because she's wearing his sindoor and now she learns that just smearing sindoor isn't marriage so basically she's living with him outside marriage, outside legal marriage too. So you can see the confusion in her eyes when the next day Arnav yells at Dadi and tells everyone that Khushi is his LEGALLY wedded wife. Khushi cannot understand that. Her only smile comes when he says he'll remarry her. Thus giving validity to her relationship.
Side note: see how the show sidesteps the fact that forced marriages aren’t legally or religiously recognized. No, they use another religious figure - RadhaKrishna - and state their lack of pheres as them being unmarried. Which is not the case of Arnav and Khushi because they have completed other things - sindoor, varmala, mangalsutra. If their marriage had been of love and consent then their marriage would’ve been religiously valid considering it parallels Shiv-Sati’s gandharva wedding which doesn’t include strict rituals or even presence of mantras and elders - it’s literally the wish of the two people in love. So the issue in ArShi’s marriage isn’t the lack of pheras, it’s the lack of consent, and I find it VERY fascinating that what actually invalidates the whole relationship isn’t ever discussed. It’s sidestepped to some weird rituals obsessed Khushi and Arnav now violating another consent of hers to have “suhaagraat”/sex with her 🤷♀️
(Ok it's important to remember at this point Khushi also makes multiple mistakes and Arnav isn't a complete villain here. Just to let you know. But the unarguable fact is that Arnav is and will always be more on the wrong here. Which is why I'll always be upset over how they dealt with the marriage in the first place - also I have the highest expectations of this show because they delivered such heights! I have no expectations from other shows)
I hope this made sense! I tried to consider this as much as legally and reality wise plausible but after all this is a fictional show so liberties were taken and reality wasn't being considered so we must not judge the story based on how real it was in the first place.
The only thing that ever disappointed me was that the six month contract was suddenly not relevant nor discussed in the storyline considering it was a climatic point in the show. There was a gap in writing, plot and everything when they rushed between Arnav buying Khushi's house (which we later learn was in her name) to Dadi entering the house. So I have no idea - it always felt they scrapped a week's worth of content to bring a new track.
Khushi says everything will be fine because she thinks she's the problem at the house and since after 13 days she won't be his wife, hence Arnav would not have be in the struggle to manage his family and above all the 'problem' of the family won't be there. Thus the Raizadas will be happy. Arnav will be happy.
(In no particular order, just wanna gush about the episodes I love and why)
One of my favorite “low-key” episodes of IPK is the post-hospital bill episode. It marks the beginning of this sweet “truce” period between the Hospital Bill paying and Diwali heartbreak (two crucial Events), and I'm personally a fan of these "truce" tracks where Arnav and Khushi are all soft around each other.
Tbh nothing of great importance happens in this episode, in fact the next set of episodes include the fairy lights scene, mud in eye scene, Khushi’s signs from Devi Maiyya, and are more crucial to the development of the love story.
Nevertheless, I have such a soft spot for this episode. The entire vibe is so sweet and tentative and gentle!
Its a great example of one of the things the show does really well, i.e. have a character such as Arnav, a man of few words, and yet communicate to us EXACTLY what he’s thinking and going through, via great writing and acting. I mean in this episode Arnav never says anything much to Khushi apart from asking about her father and his usual ASR-esque remarks, but he’s so desperate to know if she’s okay, to cheer her up, to make her happy. At this point, he’s very far from recognizing or naming what his feelings for her are, but that’s EXACTLY why I find his actions in this episode all the more beautiful. He asks after her. He not only doesn’t yell at or punish Khushi for breaking the vase, he takes the fall for her in front of Anjali as well. I mean that was so cute!!! It's totally impulsive and totally generous - the other side of the coin from his impulsive cruelties that we've witnessed so far.
Oh and the chamko detergent silver coin subterfuge!!!! He doesn’t get credit, he doesn’t get to hold it over her, he gets absolutely nothing out of it but to see Khushi smile, and thats why he does it - how could anything be more romantic? For me its one of the top 5 most romantic things ASR ever does.
This episode also lays the some of the foundations for Khushi's enduring love for Arnav. In the conversation with Payal, we see how for her, Arnav is beginning to represent a fantasy she can scarcely allow herself to accept she wants, much less chase. It's a girlish, immature fantasy at this point, that matures over time (through the Diwali heartbreak, Payash wedding and finally the contract marriage period) into a painful, bittersweet longing for a lover/husband she knows Arnav CAN be but isn't for her. Yet, even this girlish fantasy at this stage isn't a shallow crush, it's rooted deeply in her own traumas and the way she sees Arnav as the fulfillment of her every secret and desperate desire - someone to choose her for no reason but her own self, and protect her against every hurt, and shield her, someone who understands her pain and for whom she does not have to pretend to be happy or strong, someone for whom she is NOT a burden but a welcome responsibility. That's what she felt in that moment when Arnav out his hand on her head on the hospital - the absolute sincerity with which he communicated, with no words, exactly why he paid the bill - not as a benevolent favor, not an employers duty, but because he cares for her and wants to protect her. As much as Khushi is the perfect balm for Arnavs traumas, so is Arnav for Khushi's, a beautiful aspect of their love story that was lost somewhere later in the series along with Khushi's consistent character development.
And yes, includes yet another instance of Arnavs amusement at Khushi's antics - that amused half smile as he watches her run away. Soft!!!
Hii can you tell me when exactly does Arnav start believing Khushi's pov? Was it when Shyam was being exposed or did he start trusting her earlier?
Hi there,
A few days after marrying Khushi, Arnav was already aware of some inconsistencies in what he knew as truth, what Shyam confirmed as truth and what Arnav was seeing before his eyes.
He sensed Khushi was uncomfortable around Shyam - but he fit it to a disgruntled lover who is now married. But then it doesn't make sense why marriage should make a difference.
Shyam suddenly was devoted to Anjali. Why? Even after knowing the pregnancy Shyam was beating his chest on being forever in love with Khushi. Did Khushi being married make such a big difference? For a man with no morals?
Khushi truly cared for Arnav. Was it a result of her believing her sindoor or that she truly has developed feelings for Arnav over time?
Khushi truly loved Anjali. Anjali and Khushi were as thick as thieves with one being concerned for the other constantly. If Khushi loved Anjali so much, how could she deceive Anjali so terribly?
Nothing happens to confirm his theory about these two apart from Shyam's repeated events to be closer to Khushi and the sudden instances he'd see these two. Khushi was doing nothing to confirm his suspicion.
On the contrary, Khushi's behavior was only confirming what he knew when he fell in love with her. She is kind, happy, caring, loving and just so innocent and pure. She breathes life into his life regardless of things.
There's no one point where he began trusting her, I think very quickly he realised he was missing something in the story. Like unveiling Shyam's affair brought Shyam's real face in front, Arnav tried different tactics on Khushi.
He spoke of money, her wish to be married into a rich family, her ways to cling to the family and status - none brought forward an "Oh you caught me" face. Rather she was hurt, every single time.
And when she was hurt again when he put the truth of the reason behind the marriage, Arnav realised there's some major disconnect but couldn't believe Khushi's POV considering it was too good to be true.
When he was kidnapped he realised he gave her no space to ever confide anything with him and her version of the truth rapidly seemed truer than anything else. He realised he could've had a happy life with Khushi but he chose not to.
During the kidnapping he had accepted his emotions to be greater than any truth. He loved her beyond everything else and she was not he saw. He didn't know the full truth it. There were a million questions unanswered.
And when he saw the way Shyam switched the narrative to Khushi being a deranged psycho stalking him because of her young fantasies - I believe it removed the last shred of Shyam's lies on him. And Payal gave the truth everyone needed. How Shyam entered their lives as a prospective bachelor and how the engagement happened and why the sisters couldn't say anything.
This was never about an affair, it was something more dangerous - something Khushi does not pick up until Shyam kidnapped Arnav and worse, killed his own child. Because killing a child requires a mental degradation of another level.
Personal thoughts, considering this was the crux of the show, I wish they showed this better in the plot.
Hello Ji JWB ji, analysis anon is back with an analysis question. Do you think Khushi becomes more comfortable with Arnav in terms of their class difference after Payal’s marriage was fixed with Akash? How do you think Khushi perceives the class difference between herself and the Raizada family? Thanks a lot and loads of love
Dearest Analysis Anon ji,
Welcome! So lovely to hear from you after a long time.
FIRST, this is solely my opinion of the show and different viewpoints can exist :) Also, I have put an Ishqbaaz reference here and there because Annika and Khushi are similar heroines from similar backgrounds with questionable partners who are classist *lol* (Shivaay takes the cake and bakery in classist department tho)
Arnav, Khushi, Class Difference - from Khushi's POV
I find this very interesting, unlike Annika from Ishqbaaz, I think Khushi has a less jaded and more equal viewing of the world.
I don't think Khushi puts herself above anybody else, and likewise doesn't expect anyone else to put themselves above her (or her family). This is solely in terms of money; morally she often considers herself superior.
Of course, she knows disparities exist, but she also thinks that merit and morality cover any and every difference. A very utopian thinking if you ask me.
So what offends her the most about Arnav is not that he's extremely rich (in fact she's not even too intimidated about it) but that he puts himself above her just on the basis of money - without even knowing her - where Khushi feels they're an equal when it comes to intellect and merit, and superior when it comes to morality.
Khushi is never uncomfortable with class difference per se until someone makes it uncomfortable for her - which is Lavanya (initially), Mami and Arnav. On the other hand Payal, Garima and Madhumati are extremely class conscious. Which is why the latter two are shocked when Akash's rishta comes for Payal and class difference is the reason why Payal initially declined Akash's proposal.
Also - makes sense. There's more tension when a class conscious woman is getting married to someone who's mother is a classist.
And in Arnav and Khushi's case, it's Arnav's inherent classism and Khushi giving him a literal middle finger to all his assumptions. He has a very capitalistic thinking - that middle classed people are lazy, behind quickly climbing ladders by using any means and have less respect. Which might be true - his own uncle and Mool Rajani are examples. But Arnav generalizes Khushi and that pisses her off because she's a complete contradiction to his beliefs.
When Payal and Akash's relationship is discovered, Khushi reacts to the whole situation as "Omg, the sweet Akash wants to marry my sister? Wait my sister has a suitor? OMG IT'S ARNAV'S COUSIN? I CANNOT LET THIS HAPPEN. Wait... my sister loves him back! OMG I NEED TO GET THEM MARRIED!" And does not even consider about their class difference.
Khushi, oddly, assumes her haq to and around Arnav because rarely she sees themselves playing on different levels. The only time she's intimidated is when she sees Shantivan for the first time - but Anjali's warm welcome and Nani's affection for Lucknow makes Khushi feel immediately at home.
Also, anytime she's wary of money, status - it's only because of Arnav. He glares at her when she sits at his table the first time. He keeps on accusing her she's in this for money. He makes no change to his room when they're married - clearly showing her she has no place in this house. And often accuses her of loving jewelry and money.
If you ask me, in canon, Khushi truly becomes comfortable once Arnav gets rid of his classism and becomes comfortable. It's the little things that he does for her, wearing a raksha-dhaaga, participating in festivals or even during the first sangeet - having a very Lucknowi competition where they're on equal grounds.
One big example of Khushi treating Arnav equally is when she compares her wins in local dance competitions to his business gains. Because she's talking of grit, determination, competitive spirit and intellect - not what the wins financially bring them. And she's humbled during Teri Meri and when he gets Akash and Payal together because that is when Arnav has morally superseded her merit and intent.
I hope you liked this answer! Thanks for another interesting ask! Hope you're doing really well. I loved answering this.
Much love,
- JWB
P.S: I find Khushi's shock and disappointment of the 2 lakhs bag more of Arnav not understanding what she truly wants and money is all he can give her as opposed to genuine class difference thing. I feel Khushi is disappointed that Arnav still can't say nor do things that are necessary for her. Which is contradictory from the scene where Shivaay gifts Annika an expensive gift and while she's happy, she's shocked that he gave her such an expensive gift in the first place.
hello!! hope you've been doing well!! was re(re re) watching ipkknd and going thru ur podcasts and the one about the problematic tropes reminded me of the first time i watched the suhaagraat attempt 2.0 ep and. i found the whole thing so funny bc i genuinely thought arnav was just fucking with her (mean joke tho) but at the end of the day he'd just sit her down and talk but no he actually meant it and i was like wtf. that was not my arnav who was that?? (1/2)
i love how his confession was delivered after bc one i die a little everytime i watch khushi say 'hum bhi aap se ily damnit' and two its somehow befitting that that asshole confessed too in anger but i hate the built up to it so much that was not arnav it was some sexually frustrated clone of his mentally i've deleted arnav from that track completely i dont get what how the writers could butcher their own chars like that but khushi was so damn adorable thru out it i want her
Hello Anon!
Thank you so much for loving the podcast and yes - we're always rewatching IPK, aren't we? :D
OMG same - I literally thought that he's pulling her leg and even then at one point I'm like buddy wait, your beloved is terrified at the idea of having sex. This is not embarrassment, anticipation, curiosity or shyness (things we saw during Diwali and Mehendi).
And when he pulled out the whole SR decoration - and wasn't paying attention to her silence, questions, reluctance - that's violation of consent.
And even Khushi had to put the whole thing about pheres and all instead of being clear about the fact that she doesn't know where she is in his life and this thing, if it did happen, would mean everything to her and solidify a commitment that she doesn't know even if it exists in the first place.
I love Arnav's angry confession (tho it sounded like sexual frustration and his whole anger literally seemed like "you don't wanna have sex, here - let's get married and say what's necessary). And while I love sexual frustration cause its often so well captured in the show - this is where I needed a more solid argument.
Cause Khushi has no idea when Arnav went from "we're a married couple for others but in private nothing exists between us, and this is a marriage of six months" to "you're my wife and I want you, forever"
Cause all of this happened in Arnav's head. Much like his redemption.
And Khushi's whole dialogue of husband, wife, vows, wedding sounded so contrived and back in the 50s and not the emotional commitment she needed so... it was really hollow. Also... I still don't know how comparing themselves to Radha Krishna could 'affect' Khushi given that's a divine couple known for love beyond society and she went oh I must conform to society and not "we still don't know where we stand cause we literally pushed our problems under a rug for your fam and I don't have the choice nor freedom to make my own decisions in the 'relationship'"
Yeah no this whole scene could have wonderfully closed the loop of the wedding because:
1) It happened on the terrace (so poignant!)
2) It involves Arnav's confession
3) Khushi is dressed as a bride
4) They're nearly remarrying
5) They looked hot AF
Like what frustrates me is that they were nearly there with the perfect scene and missed it BIG time due to a shitty buildup and terrible dialogues.
For me, till date, their first wedding is one that has the perfect buildup, execution, dialogues and impact (which is why you can see it inspired a SERIES of fanfics - because that was almost the most perfect scene executed in the show)
Eeks, I think Tumblr ate your third message! Try sending that again and thank you so so SO much for sending this ask. As you can see I'm truly passionate about the things that went wrong in the show *lol*
Episode 8: ‘The Guesthouse Incident’ | Iss Podcast Ko Kya Naam Doon?
On this lengthy (yes, once again - after all the beginning is filled with iconic moments) episode of Iss Podcast Ko Kya Naam Doon, @ridzmystique and I discuss the guesthouse incident in detail.
Was Arnav to blame for Khushi's mishap? Did he finally cross a line? Did sparks still fly between them? We had several opinions on this matter, and majorly loved this episode! We hope you like this episode too - do leave your thoughts on this podcast below.
If Shyam existed solely through Arnav and Khushi’s eyes. If we never saw his monologues. Then we would have a seen;
A happily married, devoted husband to Anjali. With a fixation for Khushi, like an evil eye. ‘Accidental’ auspicious signs which convince Buaji to force Shyam & Khushi’s marriage, given the neighborhood gossip. Anjali as a ‘careless’ accidental woman, always saved by her husband. Shyam crying for the misunderstanding to Khushi - engaged only due to Bua Ji’s pressure - he wouldn’t have married her. Shyam stuck in a manipulative marriage where Anjali controls his finances. Shyam continuing to be the only person who’d listen to Arnav and give him a shoulder of support and confidence.
A man who was what Arnav and Khushi believed him to be.
Until Khushi meets Shyam on the terrace. Until we see and feel Arnav’s heartbreak, for we never see Shyam’s true face until Khushi does.
Not an unfortunate, married man - but a terrifying psychopath who had engineered every circumstance to his benefit.
Named after the Lord, and an incarnation of the Devil - Shyam Manohar Jha.
A man with "intense friendliness with nothing behind the eyes"
As @ridzmystique says, the true power of Shyam was in his mystery where we actually rooted for him to be a good guy. The over exposure of Shyam added the drama, but also did reduce the terror in his villainy.
Also, I absolutely LOVE Abhaas as an actor! He shined as the initially mysterious, emotionless Shyam Manohar Jha.
Episode 7: ‘Rabba Ve’ | Iss Podcast Ko Kya Naam Doon?
On this lengthy (yes, after all this is where the red saree photoshoot happened) episode of Iss Podcast Ko Kya Naam Doon, we discuss the end of the office track in detail, especially the first 'Rabba Ve'. It's a spectacular and plot changing moment in the show and we discuss the official introduction of the romance and Arnav Khushi's theme.
It was charming, sizzling, and we had a lot of opinions - perhaps a bit too much. Either way, we had immense fun in discussing this significant episode in the show and we hope you like it too!
