its wbw and im not really sure how this works yet but I was wondering if you could tell me about if your dragons read and how they go about getting things to read, do they do it for fun?

I’m fairly certain most of my dragons at least know how to read, be it only in their native dialect/tongue. The great majority of them do read and write Ursegal, too, the “common draconic”. Two exceptions to this, however! - Najdeid can’t read, because he’s originally a sea monster, so why the heck would he need to- Elymas is mostly illiterate too, because he had only started to learn how to read when he got infected, and then… well he had other priorities.

NOW to answer your actual question: it depends on who we’re talking about.

On the pirate crew, nobody goes out of their way to get things to read, but if there are books on the ships they are pillaging, Emma and Tristan will often be found keeping some of them for themselves. (Zach and Fox are also guilty of this, but it’s less common). Mostly they get them either to have something to read to spend time, and their crewmates later come and borrow some of their collection when they’re in a language they can read ~

For the DnD party: Matthias is very fond of books, but being a traveler, he cannot have as many as he wishes. However, he is a very fast reader, and thus manages to make the most out of the times the little group stops to rest in a clan that offers reading material. He often buys books from merchants when he can, carrying two or three at a time and reselling them once he’s done. Selim and Leon are more the type to enjoy stories being told aloud, though Selim does appreciate being able to read a nice nonfiction book once in a while.Morgan is a special case in that they know the most languages out of everyone in my lair, but actually has never read a book for fun. Someone needs to introduce them to the concept.

Sacham was a HUGE bookworm when he was younger, but has been very busy and had to drop off reading for a long while. Though now that he doesn’t have a theatre to run anymore, he’s catching up on what he’s missed ~

Moeken is very fond of reading Serious Nonfiction tbh. Iraia is the one who reads bad romance novels and is ashamed about it

Carver, though he Loves stories, much prefers hearing them told than reading them - a taste shared by Batelier, albeit for different reasons !
