IrisVR | Multi-User VR Conference Calling

IrisVR has been one of my main VR design tools. Multi-user conferencing will be an amazing feature, especially for cross-office collaboration and client reviews. The use case I'm most excited for will be user testing. For example, a moderator can now role play as a staff member helping the customer (user), while testing a retail environment.

Spatial Design in VR | IrisVR

IrisVR is my preferred spatial design tool for quickly prototyping in VR. The IrisVR software basically allows designers to get their 3D models into VR in one click. This speed enables designers to pop in and out of VR without creating separate 3D modeling workflows. Also, the locomotion feature have been really helpful for clients to get around in VR with no prior experience in a headset.

IrisVR Opens Up VR Real Estate With Two New Apps

The real estate industry is one of the most immediately applicable to VR, letting potential home owners view spaces without actually having to travel to them. New York-based IrisVR is looking to capitalize on this with the launch of two new apps.

The company today announced the launch of Iris Prospect and Iris Scope to encompass a wide range of VR headsets. The former is designed for PC-based VR like Rift and Vive. A free ‘Basic’ package allows you to take 3D files created in software like Rhino, Sketchup, Revit and OBJ and quickly convert them into VR environments.

For $200 a month, however, you can upgrade to a Pro account, which is more than a simple conversion. Here, Prospect adds features like dynamic lighting, annotations, screenshot capture and even a scale model mode. You can teleport throughout a location with the press of a mouse.
