go to the doctor for problems related to my uterus/cervix/etc without having to misgender myself on whatever form I'm filling out. in a perfect world, the medical community would acknowledge that there are different kinds of people with different genitals that need different treatment according to those things, but not exclusively label people with breasts/a uterus/etc as "female" and people with a prostate/penis/etc as "male." you know?
(this is pt 2 which im posting first so it reads naturally on my blog)
i get what you're saying. i mean, imo medical care has a long way to go, even when it comes to non-lgbt related issues. for example, there have been numerous times where ive been prescribed medication which actually made things worse due to my circumstances and everything (i have anemia, i only get 1 meal a day, etc).
i just feel that it isnt misgendering because sex and gender should be considered two separate things. otherwise you'll get people who aren't quite sure of what they're doing ending up with problems.
also, i don't know how these things happen elsewhere but here (in england) you go through treatment and hormones through the medical system so you tell the doctor directly and they'll acknowledge it and everything. i just think at the current moment, people who tick the wrong box are practically signing the contract to a long list of issues.
