He belongs to a new timeline branch created by a split during Skyward Sword. The one that Sky left after killing demise: and when he returns to his original timeline the master sword returns with him. the Goddess Sword inside the goddesses statue never becomes the Master Sword, Fi remains inside it. Skyloft and the surface slowly forgets each other, and the world is restoring itself after a post-war state.

He’s just a surface boy, from a time where history has begun to fade into myth. He has an unhealthy interest in stories of the past, ruins, and “impossible” myths, simply because forgetting something that big feels wrong. While most people try to move on from the war against the demon king he is curious about it, and that curiosity keeps getting him into trouble. His story begins not with destiny calling, but with him digging too deep.
