Even in a different life, you still would've been mine. We would've been timeless.
"Nobody looks at someone solving the number of moles like that. You do really like Satoru, don't you?" Shoko asks, passing Utahime the polaroid she took.
"What are you talking about? Stop making up things, Shoko. That's not nice," she reprimands her but gasps when she finally sees the picture. Her head on the desk while Satoru makes that stupid avocado joke while solving his analytical chemistry homework. She couldn't understand why it's so funny to him but Shoko's camera caught her smiling at it. Smiling at him...
"I have seen you laugh and smile millions of times but I never saw you look at someone like that, Hime. You do really like him."
Maybe she does.
Scratch that.
She really likes Gojo Satoru.
"That's ¥500, by the way. My services aren't free anymore, you know."
Utahime rolls her eyes before fishing out the cash from her wallet.
To that one person who be like "hey let's remove the music from this already gayish ending scene of tfatws and figure out what Bucky is saying" and accidentally triggered massive hysteria in Sambucky tag today
The commercial space has been empty ever since Yoongi started working at a barista at High Grind, and that was almost 2 years ago. Seeing the space come to life was a good change, all the bricks and glass and old Italian design gives Yoongi the impression that it's a classy gelato shop. After all, nobody dared to rent the space out as it was too expensive.
He gets a midshift on a Monday, his favorite shift, because it doesn't start out as hectic. He has time to kill when nobody comes in after lunch, sitting on his stool as he browses through his social media. When he gets bored of it he takes out his small sketch book and draws just like he has been doing ever since he started. When he looks around for some inspiration, that's when he sees him--at his 9 o'clock, right across the street at the new gelato place, is a cute guy with soft pink hair looking a little too happy to be serving gelato to little kids wilding in front of the low ice cream freezer. His smile shines through the sun, through the cars slowly speeding by. This very moment is what Yoongi etches into his mind, and then he starts sketching. His little strokes become a full on solid, colorless sketch, putting details on the smile that captivates him from several meters away. He was in trance until Hoseok taps him on the shoulder telling him to go make an Americano.
"What's got you so busy?"
"Nothing. Americano?" And Yoongi pretends he wasn't falling a little bit in-crush with the cute boy across the street.

It's a good day, a great day. It's Jimin's first job ever in his dream city of Seoul. He feels like he can conquer the world as he serves tiny kids a serving of one of the best gelatos he's ever had. He's in a great place in life, he feels content, and honestly, he can die happy right now. But whenever Kim Taehyung opens his mouth, Jimin's life span decreases by 10 minutes.
"Not to be creepy, but that barista across the street has been staring and like...drawing you for the past thirty minutes." Taehyung is a good guy, really, Jimin knows he can get along well, but it's too early to be thinking bad of him, but when he turns his head, he wasn't disappointed at all. Shocking.
He wasn't tall, but he holds a gorgeous side profile and dark hair that falls across his rather dainty face. What Jimin also notices right off the bat is that he's pale as snow, the harsh sunlight not doing him any justice at all. He moves to finish off his coffee, giving the customer a little smile, and when Yoongi turns to him, that's when Jimin startles. Or rather, they both do.
-
"Fuck," Yoongi nearly hits his hand on the espresso machine, because Cute Gelato Guy is staring right at him. "Oh god was I caught?" Panic rises in his throat, because he was never one to openly stare at people. He finds Cute Gelato Guy cute, but he doesn't wanna come off as some sort of weirdo.
"Who are you talking to?" Hoseok turns to him, scribbling on a cup. One of the things that Hoseok is not good at is hiding his judgy face and Yoongi wants to smack the judgement off of his face right then and there. "Get to work, green tea latte, no whip!"
"Right." He clears his throat, sneaking a tiny look at Cute Gelato Guy, who was, surprisingly, staring back at him with a small, shy smile.
-
"Taehyung...this is a bad idea." Jimin groans, already regretting his life choices when the Cute Barista doesn't smile back at him. It's quite embarrassing actually, how he seems so forward when this guy is probably not into him like that. Come to think of it, this some sort of fucked up flirting because who's even making the first move?
He slumps on his seat, finally out of veiw, and pouts like there's no tomorrow. The shop is vacant, no more over active kids with their busy parents, no more couples on a date. There was one particularly sweet couple who dropped by and ate at the store, feeding each other and giggling at something they were watching on the guy's phone. They were cute, and Jimin wanted something like that, too.
"Come on man, you're sad over that? If you think he's cute, why don't you go make a move?" Taehyung suggests, chewing the ice from his juice a little too loudly. "You're new in the city, you have a nice job, you're single and cute, and didn't you tell me you're quite flexib--"
"Okay, okay! I get it, yeah. Just--" Jimin stands up and stares outside his window, and this time, Yoongi is smiling right back at him.
Jimin fintly blushes, he can feel it rising at his cheeks grow hot, his ears even hotter. This guy has a nice smile, gummy and charming albeit shy. When Jimin overcomes his initial shock, he tries to smile back, biting on his lower lip when it threatens to split his face in half.
Really, all this blatant flirting his so high school, but it's been a while since he took interest in another person, and maybe a change is good for him. New city, new life, new love.

When the shy smiles turned into waves, gestures, even winks, it's really hard to deny that this thing is already more than a crush. Jimin spent the last few weeks agonizing how Yoongi always has to go somewhere, tapping on his wrist watch and mouthing 'see you!' to Jimin from right across the street. And the thing is, they never got to talk in person. Not once.
It's several days later when a girl is ordering a gelato that her boyfriend tells her 'I'm gonna buy coffee from across the street.' that Jimin squares up and says "Can you um...do me a favor and h-hand this note to the barista? The one with the b-black hair, please." The guy says sure and leaves, taking a piece of Jimin's soul with him.
It was an idea that he came up with several days ago, but he really didn't know how to do it because he didn't have any courage to face Cute Barista alone. And what's the point of sending notes if he'll hand it himself.
The girl turns to him with a knowing smile and says, "That's how I met my husband, too."
Jimin's eyes widen in shock, because they look too young to be married, but the girl saves him from his curiosities and tells him a little story. "I know, I know. We're too young to be married. The both of us are only 25. We have a life ahead of us, but when he started smiling at me from the library counter I just know he's someone I'll never forget."
-
"I know you get off at 7pm. How about some gelato? On me :) -jimin"
Yoongi sees it clearly, neat handwriting on a folded piece of baby pink sticky note. Yoongi has affiliated pink with--ah, finally a name now--Jimin for a long time now, mind always going back to the Cute Gelato Guy whenver he sees that color. He smiles to himself and turns back to Jimin who was staring at him hopefully from his window.
And, just like what he had initially thought, he really couldn't decline. More so, he's already looking forward to it.
-
"So are you gonna write something back?" The guy who gave him the note asked, a knowing smile on his face as if he knows what's going on between him and Jimin.
"Are you gonna go back there? I don't want to bother you or anything."
"No it's fine, and I am gonna go back. My wife is still there talking to your crush."
Yoongi chokes on his spit. He knows he likes Jimin, but when somebody points it out like that he can't help but be too obvious.
"I--okay, yeah. Thanks." He scribbles on his notepad, keeping Jimin's note in his pocket. (for what, only god knows) "I'm sorry you had to be in between me and my inability to make the first move."
"Not a problem at all." The guy cracks a smile and leaves, thanking Yoongi for the coffee.
-
"Oh my god, Tae. He's coming by in a couple of minutes. How do I look?"
"You look fine, Jimin. Honestly, stop worrying. This is your big break!"
With Taehyung carrying the empty trays back into the small kitchen Jimin knows he's going to be in there for a while and he'll be left alone to deal with Yoongi. Which is fine, because Jimin didn't want Taehyung's very unnecessary presence in front of his soon-to-be-boyfriend-maybe husband, who now has a name.
Yoongi...
"Yoongi..." He says it again and again with a dopey smile on his face, and that's when he realizes a little too late that someone is in front of him already and--
"Oh m-my--"
"Yeah, Yoongi. That's my name." Yoongi's standing right over there, a shy smile on his face, a couple of feet away within Jimin's reach, and this close, Distant Yoongi could't even compare with Up Close Yoongi, his facial features and actual body a mere arms length away. Jimin is having a mini mental breakdown, because he didn't know what he was thinking when he invited Yoongi for gelato. He doesn't know what to say, what to initiate. He doesn't know what they can talk about, if Yoongi thinks his hair is a little too gay--
"R-right! The gela--"
"Didn't you read my note?"
Jimin blushes, head ducking down to hide his red cheeks. "I...I did...but uh," He raises his head finally, throwing Yoongi a hesitant glance. "I get off at eight."
"Eight sounds perfect...Jimin. It's nice to uh...finally see you. Here."
Jimin tries to fight off the dopey smile, because not even a minute into meeting Yoongi, Jimin knows they have a long time coming.
