Sometimes it annoys me how parts of my story refuse to reveal themselves to me. Me, the writer.
Right now I'm thinking about Carol-Ann Moore, Isaac's mother. I have no idea whether she's even alive at the end of the Honor Bound series. Did she drink herself to an early grave? Get killed in syndicate-related violence? Live out her days in that old house as it crumbled around her? Who knows? Certainly not me.
I do know one thing: she blamed Isaac for her husband's death for the rest of her life, and resented him for leaving. She felt he abandoned her when she needed him most, and hated him for it. She never found out that her son saved so many lives and was partially responsible for taking down the Stormbeck syndicate. And even if she did find out, I don't think that would change her mind about him.
