Original idea credits go to @kachow-po so many thanks for the inspirations!
This is the second time I'm writing this shit up so it might be a bit of a rapid-fire but here we go: everybody's reading genre of choice (Planes edition)
side note: not exclusively humanized or carified; applies to both and can be interpreted in either way
Dusty - hard to get the boy to sit still long enough to read. That said, he does stay on top of racing world magazines. And yes, he does read articles about himself too, for funsies.
Ripslinger - let it not go unsaid that he is actually a fair consumer of mangas and graphic novels - if, of course, they emphasize on the "graphic" contents therein. He's one for the dark and grotesque. Someone needs to get him into slasher stories. Also, he collects books relating to his favorite video games. Stupid Destiny 2 bitch.
El Chu - reads a french-to-spanish dictionary daily
Rochelle - reads a spanish-to-french dictionary daily
Ishani - strikes me as a poetry girlie, ngl; mostly reads artsy stuff, and cheesy romances
Bulldog - Pretends that he only reads sophisticated classical books; Cries reading corny romance novels. Every time.
Skipper - probably the most all-around genre consumer on the list here, this man will read anything. Anything. Frequently consumes books of wildly clashing genres, including filth! He can be seen reading the raunchiest shit with the most stoic poker face ever. He's insane.
Chug - Reads and trades comic books with Sparky, as well as consuming graphic novels and sports history books. He's taken it upon himself to try to read through all the air racing guides for Dusty's sake. In the last five years he's finished two books of them. But it's something!
Sparky - Has been an avid collector of comic book series since his discharge from the navy, and works hard to keep the collection in mint condition. He got Chug into the comic book world as well, and they scout new additions to his collection online frequently.
Dottie - Hard mystery girlie, she really prefers anything with a cleverly written premise and accurate depictions of medical knowledge. She's also the kind of person who will tell you when a book is not faithful to something, be it aforementioned medical themes or otherwise. But she's mystery, all the way.
Mayday - couldn't really read anymore for a long time because his glasses were in dire need of replacing, and the nearest optometrist is too far out for him to have driven there himself. However, after the refurbishing in the second film, he's gotten back his love for reading - particularly, old letters he's kept over the last fifty plus years from family, friends, colleagues, and more. He's even kept some of Blade's old penpal papers from way back when.
Blade - still keeps and sometimes reads some old farmer's almanacs, scratching an itch of a long-time desire to finally pick up gardening some day. Weird midlife crisis, but you do you man. He also has a VERY extensive collection of history books, which he also frequently flips through. And, though it's usually hidden, yes he does read the Twilight books.
Nick - Was never really a big reader, save for magazines (in which he spent more time looking at the models than anything else). But, he did have a brief hyperfixation on an old western historical fiction that Blade's since forgotten the name of.
Windlifter - A professional writer in his own right, he both makes and consumes a whooooole lot of fanfiction. But that's not his only interest; he also consumes genres similar to those he writes: romance novels, dramas, and absolute filth. And usually very, VERY queer. Yaoi fics go brr. He also has several books in other languages that he's gone through the painstaking efforts of learning to read, because he's insane.
Lil Dipper - Also a fanfiction connoiseur, of roughly the same kinds of genres, with a little more emphasis on the adorable and fluffy stories, like coffee shop AUs. She also reads a bit of fantasy, and sometimes the occasional cozy mystery.
Maru - Prefers to read the newspaper more than anything else, but has recently been persuaded into reading a comedy horror series - a genre he's quickly finding that he enjoys. Also consults Dummy's Guides for all sorts of things, including and not limited to plumbing, electrical, construction, and welding.
Cad Spinner - reads douchebag bitcoin "how to become a billionaire" books - and frequently gets scammed by them.
Dynamite - Usually doesn't read much, but started reading some sci-fi and fantasy stuff in the last couple years at Pinecone's suggestion.
Pinecone - Very big on high fantasy, from old classics to new ones. She also scours high and low for decently written lesbian fantasy stories.
Drip - Generally only reads magazines and comics, though he once tried to look like he was reading an old classical book to look cool and discovered it was actually a neat story.
Blackout - Doesn't read, but instead has a wall of sticky notes that he consults daily for reminders. Usually forgets most of them anyways
Avalanche - Sometimes struggles to read because dyslexia go brr, but he's been doing well to reread nostalgic gradeschool chapter books, and some larger stuff if he's got the brain capacity for that much reading. Pinecone sometimes helps him out on those.
Cabbie - Literally nobody (except Windlifter :3) knows what he reads, because his whole fucking library is in Korean. Though, they suspect its all relating to war histories and such. He does also swipe from Blade's history collection, too, if a particular book stands out to him. (Wind knows he keeps coming back to parenting guides and psychology books, in an effort to a) be a better dad figure, to the Smokejumpers and his own actual kid, and b) better understand why Blade is so fuckin'...Blade, for God's sake)
Patch - reads THE most horrifying books around, for fun. Absolute horror geek, and loves anything with a good level of gore and creepiness. (She's the one that also got Maru into the horror-comedy genre) She'll sometimes go for a mystery, but usually stays within the realm of horror with any other added subgenres.
I'll do another one next week probably on exclusively the OCs, since I figure there's enough to make their own list with.
