فى عام 1484 وبالتزامن مع النهضة المعمارية الكبرى التى شهدها عصر السلطان الأشرف أبو النصر قايتباى،ابدعت الفنون المملوكية منبرا فريدا وضع فى خانقاه فرج بن برقوق بالقرافة ، وهو المنبر الوحيد المصنوع من الحجر فى عصر المماليك الجراكسة ولم يقف الحجر عائقا امام الفنان الفذ الذى نجح فى صنع قطعة فنية لا مثيل لها فى زمانه،وقد استرعى هذا المنبر أنظار المستشرقين فرسمه المعمارى باسكال كوست منتصف القرن التاسع عشر، غير أنه فى العام 1979 تقدم الباحث George Walls لنيل درجة الدكتوراه فى فلسفة العمارة بجامعة أدنبره باسكتلنداوموضوع رسالته مقارنة بين الطرز الفنية فى عصر قايتباى من خلال المدرسة الأشرفية بالقدس ومنبر قايتباى فى خانقاه فرج بن برقوق بالقاهرة ، ومن خلال دراسته قام بعملية تحليل وتوثيق دقيقة للغاية لعناصر وزخارف منبر قايتباى تعد من أبرز ما تم تقديمه فى هذا المجال.

In the year 1484, and in conjunction with the great architectural renaissance witnessed by the era of Sultan al-Ashraf Abu al-Nasr Qaytbay, Mamluk arts created a unique platform that was placed in the Faraj ibn Barquq gorge in the Qarafah, and it is the only pulpit made of stone in the era of the Circassian Mamelukes. He made a piece of art unparalleled in his time, and this platform caught the attention of orientalists, and was drawn by the architect Pascal Coast in the mid-nineteenth century, but in the year 1979 the researcher "George Walls" applied for a doctorate in architecture philosophy at the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, and the subject of his dissertation is a comparison between artistic styles in the era Qaitbay through the school of Ashrafieh in Jerusalem and the pulpit of Qaitbay in the khanaqah of Farag Ibn Barquq in Cairo, and through his studies, he carried out a very accurate process of analysis and documentation of the elements and decorations of the Qaitbay pulpit, which is among the most prominent of what has been presented in this field.
