Turn around, bright eyes.

Every now and then we fall apart. But every now and then we fall apart for good, and very specific, reason. That reason is the momentary disappearance of the sun as it disappears behind the moon. This magnificent and mystical phenomenon is otherwise known as the total solar eclipse. They are also exceptionally rare, though they really are a case of quality over quantity. As luck would have it, there was such an event just yesterday across Mexico, the US, and Canada. Yesterday, it was that very every now and then. And it was yesterday, wearing our CE and ISO-Certified Eclipse Glasses, that the sun disappeared behind the moon. And it was at that moment that we fell apart, naturally.

fascinating glimpse into the labyrinths of technology tonight

a friend who's doing a queer performance studies MA was wailing because the texts they assigned to him for next week were supplied in pdfs his screen reader couldn't read, so we said "send them to us and we'll see what we can do"

so we got these two pdfs, and one of them was just scanned images from a book, and the other one was at least some kind of real text - but when we tried copying both directly by selecting the text with the mouse on our laptop, they produced utter gobbledygook

so then we had a little brainwave and meticulously saved screenshots of the first one on our phone, and then used its ocr to copy the text, page by page, which worked almost perfectly (ocr hates endnote numbers)

and with the second one, we opened it on our phone and manually selected the text page by page, and that worked fine too

so we made two odt files with the plain text from the pdfs, and his screen reader works fine with all that

but the gobbledygook is really intriguing - look at this:

also none of these academic fuckers seem to have heard of paragraph breaks - and in the second document, we swear 80% of the pages ended with a hyphen - who edits these things?

fortunately it was only 51 pages altogether and only took a couple of hours - but we've asked him to give the college fierce feedback about providing non-accessible reading matter

also we're really glad we don't have to read this, we got a few lines into that first page and it made our teeth bleed

Voici mon premier post sur cette plate-forme. Je me suis inscrite après le conseil d'une amie ! Je partagerai ici les dessins et brides d'histoires de mes OCs (j'en ai plein ahah).

Je dessine/écrit des histoires dans un monde plutôt calqué au notre, même si certains de mes OCs (surtout ceux que je développe en ce moment) on une grosse partie de leur vie dans des meutes de loups, avec de la magie et du surnaturel. J'essaye de toujours préciser quel OC est dessiné. J'aborde également des sujets sensibles parfois (notamment les troubles mentaux, la mort, etc). J'essayerai de faire une carte mentale une fois de tous mes OCs et de leurs relations !

Je posterai aussi peut-être d'autres choses : j'adore les ossements d'animaux, les photos de plantes...

Je risque de faire beaucoup de fautes d'orthographes et je m'en excuse. J'essaye de faire attention, mais la langue française et moi, on n'est pas trop amis.

Je ne poste absolument pas de manière régulière, même si là j'ai du stock pour publier sur plusieurs jours.
