Sonic IDW Issue 29!
So Issue 29 came out today, so let's talk about it!
(Note I'm still typing this on my phone so no images. Also, spoilers.)
Anyway, this Issue picks up where we left off in the last Issue with Sonic and pal getting ready to fight big boy Zavok and the Zombots on Angel Island. Things aren't looking too good as pretty much everyone is succumbing to the Metal Virus, but Sonic and Silver succeed in retrieving the last Chaos Emerald from Zavok and go super. Now that Sonic is no longer infected and has the Warp Topaz in hand, he and Silver open a portal leading to the sun and suck all of the planet's Metal Virus supply into it, curing everyone and saving the day. However, the Warp Topaz can't handle this much power and creates an explosion, shooting Silver back to Earth (or whatever planet we're on). He's okay, but Sonic is still where the portal once was. At first I thought he was teleported somewhere, but the Sonic Wiki says that the blast somehow opened a portal in the previous portal's place leading to who knows where, so... that's what happened I guess. I've already heard a couple theories as to where this portal will take Sonic such as Blaze's dimension, Planet Wisp, or another Earth or THE Earth with humans (because you know, Two World's Canon), and they all seem somewhat possible. Some people have also noted that Sonic is on fire on the Issue 32 cover, making the first two more plausible, and the fact that he's in Issue 32 at all means he won't be gone for very long, only a couple Issues.
Oh, and the Metal Virus arc is now officially over! Yes, after a year and like four months, we have finally moved on to new plot points. Did I like this arc? In a lot of ways yes, I think the overall tone of the arc and the heavy feelings it had me feeling at some points made it a really memorable and impactful arc. I do however think it could have been a teensy bit shorter, especially since they've kinda broken the 4-Issue arc system they've had since the later years of Archie (Issues 29-32 should technically be one arc if it followed that system, but the overall Metal Virus arc ended on 29).
Anyway, it was still an okay arc and I'm looking forward to what happens next in the main series as well as Bad Guys. I haven't gone too into detail about what we know about Issues 30-33 yet, mainly due to my current technical difficulties that prevent me from doing so, but once I get everything figured out I plan on looking at all their solicitations on here and coming up with theories on them. Also, Issue 30 is currently set to come out on August 5th!
