Romulan starship iterations!
Some friends on Discord were talking about the Romulan Flagship from the Season 1 Finale of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, and how it looked kinda goofy in any sort of real lighting.
So I done did some iterations of my own! And they kinda evolved into something of a bit of a later era. ANYWAYS—
This was the first iteration. Most of my idea was to take the rough shape of the Romulan Bird-of-Prey and make the shape of its wings match a little closer to that diving-eagle look (and atop that, adding the lower pylons to give that “talon” look). The prow, however, doesn’t really have much eagle to it — I just stuck a weapons emplacement there in a way that actually reminded a little more of a giant petrel.
Iteration 2 is very similar, but I pushed the angle of the pylons a lot more — even moved the lower ones back. Very distinct look, but starting to lose the diving-eagle look.
Iteration 3! Completely redid the underside; bulked it up a bit and made a sort of…inward-curling, almost flexing set of pylons.
The final iteration so far. Completely. gets rid of the upper wings, massively enlarges the lower pylons to become the wings, with no direct indication of where exactly the nacelles are. The angularity and massing gives this ship this great broad stance and feels very beefy in a way. It feels kinda post-Picard, in an aesthetic sense. I honestly want to assess this design a bit more; get the other angles down and stuff. Maybe model it out.
Either way: it is mean, and it is green.
