"Elio. Nice to meet you." Eri said, trying to remind himself to breathe. He wasn't a good liar. It'd be terrible form to even consider lying to an elder deity. But... omitting the truth wasn't the same as lying, was it? And Eri wasn't in any formal trouble. He wasn't officially barred from home. It was just that he'd gotten sick of living with his mistakes dogging his every step and decision back home. Elio would likely hear about it if he went home, since Eri's particular higher ups loved to gossip and bellyache about him. Their relationship had already been strained before the demon thing ever happened. It was just the straw that broke the camel's back. Elio was not here to bring him in for punishment. Or, at least, that was what Eri told himself.

"Perhaps we have met. I worked in the Divine Realm until very recently. I only recently came out. Have you been home in the past few thousand years?" Eri tried to place either the face or the sense he got from Elio, but nothing came to him. He did make it a point to avoid higher ups except when absolutely necessary, so he might have just never met him. "I'm terribly sorry. Usually I remember those I've met before, but this human body is quite distracting. I find it's very difficult to recall anything when I'm like this."

Not a lie. Eri's heart was starting to calm down as he repeated that he wasn't in trouble, and didn't need to worry. "So, what do you do with your time when you're here?"
