Italians have white privilege because most of us look like white people, but it is important to note that we are a marginalized nation who suffered colonization, dictatorship and extermination on other colonialist forces behalf (Spain, France, Austria...) who are also a big reason as of why fascism became widespread. Italy is an useless country in the grand scheme of things, and our struggles are made fun of by mostly Americans & people from again, countries w an history of colonization and race brutality. We have a privilege on our looks, we will never face the racism a black/asian or tab-skinned arab (+ muslim women/men) person faces, but it is important to note that we are still discriminated against, and thus xenophobia applies, which is a serious issue. Italians are white of race, but grouping us in the same category as Spain, France, England, etc. feels unfair, which is why I say I'm a white mediterranean person. I am privileged in my looks but not in everything else. The xenophobia I've faced even from so called woke people is absurd.
