The Magic of Journaling And here’s the magic of journaling: when you write a real episode, the language “sticks” better in your brain because it’s tied to emotion (in this case: fear + embarrassment + laughter.)After writing this journal entry, now two words stick better in my brain: “Col senno di poi” and “Lungimiranza”“Col senno di poi” means: in hindsight—now that I know how it turned out, with the benefit of experience going forward. It’s perfect for storytelling, reflecting, and learning from mistakes without taking yourself too seriously.Col senno di poi, avrei dovuto tenere un diario quando ho iniziato a studiare italiano: a quest’ora sarei molto più fluente.In hindsight, I wish I’d kept a journal when I first started learning Italian—I'd be so much more fluent by now.“Lungimiranza” is the ability to see further ahead: anticipate consequences, prepare, make choices that help your future self. Song “Moriró da re” - Artist ( does it really has to be written ;) )

„E amore accanto a te, baby accanto a te... io morirò da re”

Amore-amore mio, how to call your bae or whoever you want ( some girls also use it to call their friends  ) in more romantic, or sweeter way… isn’t it? It also means love. Also , you can say “Sei un amore “ -which means “you are very gentle and nice”. Sei un amore! <3

Accanto – next. Sounds a Little bit similar to “account„ but pronounced in more melodious way.

A te - to you! (a me, is to me… not so difficult ;))

Io-  I. I’ve always was taught that „io” sound is a sound of a donkey , so maybe it can help you to remember it ahaha. But okay, it means I, and In italian it’s not necessary to use it , you can skip it as In spanish.

Moriró- i will die , morire – is to Die, and moriró as you an see is Just In future.

Da re- as king. Well it more likely sounds like „ do Re (mi)…’ but Re means king.

“How are you?” in Italian

Ciao a tutti! 

Welcome to my blog! I am Claudia and this is So Italian!

Today we are going to learn how to ask and answer how are you in Italian.

How to ask:

Of course there are different options, most of which use the word come (how). 

One of the most frequently used is come stai? Where stai is a declination of the verb stare* (scroll to the bottom to see the whole declination). 

Another very common alternative is come va? Declination of the verb andare. It corresponds to how is it going? Its longer version would be come va la vita? (how is life going), but it is barely used. Another version is come vanno le cose? (how are things going).

Then we can say tutto bene? Which is the shorter version of va tutto bene? (is everything ok?). To this one you can just answer with a yes or a no.

How to answer:

Tutto bene?

Sì, tutto bene (Yes, everything is ok) No, non proprio (No, not really).

Whereas the answers to the other questions can be:

Come stai? / Come va? 

(Sto/Va) bene, e tu/a te? (I am good and you?)  Insomma or Così così (So so) Non (sto/va) molto bene (I am not very good) (Sto/Va) male (I feel bad/Things are going badly).

You can omit the parts in brackets!

So, these were the most common questions and answers for how are you in Italian.

Learning Italian has been a beautiful experience. This is the first language that I learn by choice. 💓 And I really enjoy every step of this journey, that sometimes feels so overwhelming, but others feels exciting.
