Ciao ~ I was wondering, and if you don't know that's okay, but what do non binary people do with personal adjectives and such. Like I keep a diary in Italian, and I'm not really sure whether to use a or o endings when I feel like neither fit me? Like, in public I will use what people assume for me, but in private is there any alternative to a/o endings or should I just pick one? Thank you for your amazing blog, y'all are so helpful.

Sadly I don’t know if I can really be of help (but if any non binary Italian can add something, please do): as you know, in Italian there are only 2 genders for everything, no matter what is the final vowel of a word (also -e, for example). Anyway, what I can suggest you to do when you write in private, is to omit the endings and put an asterisk instead of them: this is actually what we do here when we reply to asks and we don’t know who we are talking with, but we need to address to that person using an Italian word that requires a specific gender choice. For example “brav*” could stand for both brava or bravo, and you could translate “I’m tall…” as “Sono alt*….” (alta/alto).If you cannot use this trick (for example Idk, it gets harder with articles or other words), I can only suggest you to pick a random one. But I hope this can help you at least when you’re writing for yourself ♥.
