🌻 (1/2) I was thinking about writer!Zuko, and a thought occured to me: Zuko is a lover of stories and tropes and fairytales, and can be described as a well-hidden (not really) hopeless romantic. Obviously he probably writes some romance into his Dante works, as a development of a relationship between characters, but do you think he Also writes Horribly Self-Indulgent Romance Novels. Like full-on Bodice Rippers, albeit maybe not super sexy bc that's not his style.

Additionally: do you think he blasèly publishes these as Dante Basco, sending the literary world Reeling and inspiring the entire romance genre, or does he feel these are so self-indulgent that he can't bring himself to send them to Aiko at all or feels the need to send them under a NEW pen name, despite how she can recognize his handwriting. He still sets off the romance genre bc he's Just That Good.

He definitely writes his super sappy romance fantasies. If he’s writing out his trauma, then he’s also writing out his wildest dreams. I doubt he’d think to take up a different pen name, though.

Love interests that could kill the protagonist with a single finger are probably not uncommon in the Fire Nation, considering how they value combat and honour and all that, but it’s considered more cutting edge in the Earth Kingdom and Water Tribe. But also, romance novels that focus on gentle intimacy, sharing secrets and soft touches and communicating trauma? It’s addicting for readers in a world so torn by violence.

though he never would do so without express permission, charles preferred way of communication is through telepathy. speaking through his mind comes more naturally than vocally. his mind is his greatest sense, his eyes, his ears, and his voice into the world and holding himself back is a constant strain, but he does so to ensure the comfort of others.
