Ok someone needs to say it- the way yall write Cassandra (Cain,,Wayne, Wu-San, she had a lot of surnames)??

It’s ableist.

It just.. Jesus Christ. Too many fics will dial up her skills of observation, her agility, her awareness- all of it! And it’s well done!

But then the SECOND she opens her mouth to speak, or moves to sign, or texts someone, y’all bring out the ableism.

I get it, English isn’t her first language, but that is NOT how many of ya’ll write her. It just isn’t, it comes off as a 4 year old who doesn’t understand ANY language, as opposed to a fuckin teenager who knows more than one language and can certainly understand what’s being said even if she skips over one or two words that happen to just not translate that well in her mind.

In an effort to accurately write an abused immigrant (because she is), countless fic writers have fallen on ableist (and racist, but that’s not my place) stereotypes because they can’t just look up actual characterization for 5 seconds.

I get it, not everyone can buy a whole comic storyline and study character behaviors (nor should anyone say that’s the solution, because to say that is very rude because money is the great un-equalizer of our time) But no, you DON’T just have to operate on fanon if you’re trying to write about a character, because you CAN look up comics for free. You don’t need a whole storyline, but if you’re planning on writing a character with REAL WORLD TRAITS from MARGINALIZED COMMUNITIES maybe don’t just go with what everyone says that character is like?? Given the fact that society is, as we all know, bonkers ableist and racist???

I basically read a fic today where Cass can’t type?? For literally no reason she just can’t write in English??? She’s been with the family for like 2+ years at this point and she can’t spell??

OK so! Role scramble au........ Finn and Jake are now Orbo and Cosmic respectively Bubblegum and Marcy are swapped with Prismo and Scarab. (Pb as Wishmaster and marcy as god auditor.)
