The Butterfly Lion - Michael Morpurgo (this is still one of my all time favourites)

Are You My Mother - Dr Seuss (the first book I ever "read" by myself, even though I was actually reciting it)

There are a lot of kid's books on this list, but those are the books that have shaped my life. Also I read way more then than I do now :P

I usually start with one of those same two. And I throw SitL/FotD fairly early because otherwise much of 11’s era doesn’t have context. Plus they’re excellent.

Blink -> SitL/FotD -> The Eleventh Hour is my usual watching order, I think. My introductions to Doctor Who tend to be very Moffat-heavy. (I can't imagine that surprises a lot of people here.)

What about ‘Partners in Crime’? Its not the greatest episode ever, but its light and its funny and rompy and could that work?

I see your point, it is a really entertaining episode. I think I'll end up with "Rose" or "The Eleventh Hour", though,  because they seem much better equipped to introducing the general concept of the show and the characters involved.

I think the other comments were basically 50/50 for "Rose" and "The Eleventh Hour". Which actually represents how I feel about it quite accurately, go figure. I usually wouldn't pick "Rose", but I think a lot of the elements I find not all that great would be hilarious to my sister (*cough* Plastic!Mickey *cough*).

Hmm. I'll flip a coin or something. Or give my sister a very brief synopsis and see what sounds more interesting to her.

The Lodger! A really good look at who and what the Doctor is from the perspective of an ordinary person, TONS of great comedy from Matt Smith and a lovely performance from James Corden.

Oh, that is an option to really think about. Little previous knowledge necessary, not too scary, really funny...

That River Song post. Bravo. Simply incredible, I despise it when people try and use River against Steven Moffat because she's one of the best examples of 'layered, detailed, three dimensional, incredibly human,and strong' characters out there. And such a revolution in the sense that she's one of the only middle aged women on TV who's allowed to appear sexy and flirtatious without it being a punchline or a mockery. Again, thank you for that post you awesome awesome human being *hug*

It was recently announced just today that all 11 doctors will appear in the special actually. And the way they're getting round the whole 'grow older looks different' is that the doctors appear in moving, breathing, talking paintings not in real life. Tom Baker and Peter Davison have definitely recorded dialogue for it. Colin Baker, McCoy and mcgaan are rumoured too have done so as well. And there are rumours of a Paul mcgaan regeneration mini side to be airing this Saturday too!!!

Ooooh that sounds awesome! It's a really good way to get them in, but in a way that doesn't focus on the past but is still respectful of it!

Its come to a point where I have to seriously pinch myself with excitement that a blog like this exists! Seriously, thank you for making this blog. It means a lot to know that there are parts of the fandom that don't despise Moffat. I feel so guilty about loving Moffats writing whenever I log onto my dashboard and that's a really silly and sad thing to have to feel. Thank you this blog is awesome :)

No, you shouldn’t be made felt guilty about enjoying something, and certainly not writing of Moffat’s quality.

These little celebration should give you, us, and others who really love is work, an opportunity to get together - and realise we are far from alone.
