Black Men Smile Wednesday : Celebrating Black Women Through the Smile of a Black Man //// @okcello: " I turned 44 in December, and today, 22 years ago, I met my wife, life partner, co-creator, co-music lover, mother of our children, fellow parishioner of the church of art, un-willing debate partner, co-procrastinator, soulmate and best friend. I’ve spent half my life with her, the best half for sure. And all of the things I’m proud of being or creating have been filtered through her love and informed by her loving judgement. It has been a dream - at times an absolutely blissful intoxication, and other times it has hurt more than I knew I could hurt. Sometimes these posts are dangerous, for they lull others into believing that when it’s right, it’s easy. That’s not true for us. I don’t imagine it’s true for anyone. But what is true, is that it IS right - the rightest anything has ever been for me - and I never want to wake up from this dream. Thank God, he/she/it never saw fit to wake me. So, as I look back on these 22 years, I hope that I have given as great as I’ve gotten and I now realize how all that went before that day was very important antecedent action, but the story, my story started when she reached out that day and grabbed my hand.
