The bond had faded out. It had been so slow, so painless... and so awful. Losing Megatron, losing their sparkling, it had hurt so bad. Optimus had very nearly lost himself as well. Perhaps if he hadn’t had another depending on him, he would have. Altair’s care had been the only thing Prime could focus on for a long time.

And waking this cycle with a familiar tingle in his circuitry was not exactly welcomed. But as usual, he gets up, feeds the cyberhound, and steps out of the shuttle.

He’s moved it back to Earth for the time being. Far away from human populations, and thankfully in a temperate region. A few moments later, Altair bounds past him, putting a faint smile on the Prime’s face. Watching the half grown hound take off into the foliage, Optimus seats himself on the ground, optics fixed on the horizon, trying to ignore the faint heat in his lower frame.
