The John Hughes sci-fi teen comedy Weird Science was released on August 2, 1985. The film was about teen nerds Gary (Anthony Michael Hall) and Wyatt (Ilan Mitchell-Smith) using a computer to create their ideal woman who was named Lisa (Kelly LeBrock). Bill Pullman is often remembered in the film for his role as Wyatt's older brother Chet. Some of the featured sci-fi/comic book/horror regulars who also appeared were Robert Downey Jr, Vernon Wells, Michael Berryman, Robert Rusler, Suzanne Snyder, Judie Aronson, Britt Leach, Ivor Barry, John Kapelos, Fred D Scott, Chino 'Fats' Williams, Wallace Langham, Mikul Robins, and Jill Whitlow. The movie inspired a TV series (1994 - 1998) that ran for 5 seasons and a Funny or Die spoof segment Weird Science 2: Strange Chemistry (2013). The theme song was by future composer Danny Elfman and performed by his band Oingo Boingo. The song was released both on the sound track and Oingo Boingo's album Dead Man's Party. It was Oingo Boingo's most successful single. ("Weird Science", Sci-Fi Movie Event)
