I looked at the spoilers for next week and I was like ‘no way is Harry getting shot - there’s nothing in here that would indicate that!!’ But that conversation was so similar to the one that Mac had with James (in terms of foreshadowing content rather than the sentiment obvs) that I don’t know how to feel... 

I mean, Harry getting shot is a great way to convincing Sadie to give him the alibi after all...

I'm white and don't live in the UK so I'm, like, way out of my lane, but Sami's speech came across as extremely assimilationist. Which, that's accurate to some people's experiences, but it also can feel like, on a show with mostly white people for a mostly white audience, they're promoting his view as the "right" one, even with Yaz voicing disagreement. idk, i guess we'll see if they revisit/develop it like you say. <3

definitely, that was exactly the problem with it for me; they only presented one view and projected it like it was the only right way to think, when in fact so many people would agree with what yaz was trying to say too because being an asian in britain is a very individual experience. 

mix it in with the fact that it was a scene part of a very questionable storyline, i’m allowed to feel worried about how they are handling a muslim family and where this is all ultimately headed.

Harry having to really work for it. Seeing Harry pursue and seducing James while James tries (and fails on multiple occasions) to keep him at arms length? Yes, pleaseeeeee

I mean, he’s not that dumb, but I wouldn’t be shocked...

There was a similar thing on ED where one character convinced another that they had slept together after they woke up naked and in bed together. It’s not the craziest stunt a soap has ever pulled.
