ivysour, the scammer of years
So who is ivysour? Around two years ago, asks began being sent out to share the users fundraising post to help their relative with ‘hypertension’ and needing ‘oxygen tanks’ refilled within days of the post being made. However, all was not what it seemed as soon it came to light the user was actually scamming people and had stolen the pictures from somewhere else.
Unfortunately, being caught did not deter this scammer. Present day, they are still scamming people and while their original accounts are long abandoned they continually make new accounts and new addresses on a daily basis to con users into giving them money. They mainly now focus on pet information, saving it from Facebook and GoFundMe and reposting it to here word for word from where it came from with only minor edits to the stories. This person has at least stolen two fundraisers related to funeral costs or illness aid. Both times they were caught but have not stopped.
If the story had an address already listed, ivysour will remove it and add one of their own numerous addresses that could be catered to fit the vet bill or another address they have on hand at the time. Thanks to having multiple at once, they can swap the address out but reuse the same story. It’s clear this user also has multiple emails, and had made multiple accounts over the years and continues to fool users into trusting them and believing their stories. While the fundraiser is real, it’s been stolen from elsewhere and ivysour does not own any animals posted on these accounts.
ivysour has also blocked many scam reporting blogs, in an effort to stop them from taking any action against their attempts. To this day, however, they continue sending asks to share a pinned post even though quick searches would easily expose them as a known scam blog. They are behind all the pet scams that are posted, making as many accounts as they can with no sign of stopping anytime soon. This is why other users are urged to take caution if they receive asks from a fresh account asking to share a pinned post.
It is also clear ivysour is in a private Facebook group about animals, as most of the stolen fundraiser posts have origins in a group that can not be accessed in the public. An attempt to alert the owners of this group about the scammers presence has gone ignored so unfortunately very little can be done to stop the scammer at their main source.
ivysour is the account that started it all. However, it is long abandoned and newer accounts are created daily. Please keep an eye out for these daily scammers, and never give them money if the address given is on a list of known scam names.
