I don’t know how Loki would handle watching Thor being the one who’s bullied. The headcanon in me wants to say he’d fistfight them in a parking lot, but realistically I think it would have just stung Loki. He might not have known what to do seeing Thor hit the same rock bottom Loki hit in TDW. Maybe offer comfort and support.

Nope! The series was never discontinued, just put on hold for a little while. I was shell-shocked after seeing Infinity War in the theater by myself, bad enough that for a long time afterward the thought of going to a movie theater made me break out in a cold, nausea-fueled sweat. (PTSD, basically. I developed PTSD from seeing a movie.) I couldn’t bring myself to work on any post-Ragnarok fics for two years. It just felt like a useless effort with how things ended in canon. Nihilistic hopelessness isn’t very conducive to writing.

But now that I’ve gone through all the stages of grief (and many, many jötunn AUs), and I officially have no more fucks to give, I can happily show the MCU my middle finger and pick up where I left off.

i’m so fucking scared for infinity war like,,, i’ve been so many times trough this before, the wait for the Grand Finale of a series and being ultimately dissapointed,,,, maybe i’m being paranoid but all this hype for two years can end very badly

Thank you, kind anon! Oh yes, I'm still continuing the In Side Out series. I'm about 5K into the next installment, so it's probably halfway done. I'm sure a lot of people are wondering why it's taking so long to get it written, so allow me to explain:

April 2018. I had already written and posted the first chapter of Side By Side and was well into the second chapter when I went and saw Infinity War. I was shell-shocked for a month afterward. A lot of us were.

I was able to harness some of my trauma and use it to finish that intensely emotional second chapter of Side By Side. Upon completion, I decided to take a rest, try to heal. Watching Loki die horribly and seeing Thor struggle with his grief was not the kind of entertainment I was expecting from Marvel, especially after the colorful, lighthearted ride that was Ragnarok. 

I was hurting. I needed to make something fluffy and sweet and happy to offset all the angst inside me. I wanted a fairy tale. A soft story about Loki being in trouble and Thor coming to his rescue, plucking him from the hands of death and whisking him away to a magical sanctuary, taking care of him, feeding him, coddling him, literally washing away his horrible past with lots of bubbles and big fluffy towels.

So I started The Little Frost Troll, and that’s been my main writing project for the last year, the primary (or at least regular) recipient of my attention. But rest assured, I’ve not abandoned In Side Out. I’m working on it as often as I can (I’ve got a couple drawing projects that are also vying for my attention, plus Endgame derailed me for about a month), and soon it’ll be ready for showtime. 

Thank you for your continued patience as I write this series! I will do my best to make sure the wait is worth it. :)

sorry to bring this to your askbox but something about loki in IW is driving me NUTS... if loki really is dead, I find it so incomprehensible that he took the tesseract while asgard was being destroyed without any.. plans for it? He's been running from thanos from the last several movies, and disguising himself as Odin continued to hide him, he must have known that taking the tesseract wouldve alerted thanos?? I dont trust the russos but I can't blv that he wouldn't have any plans for it UGH

oh god whenever i feel like i’m done with iw salt i’m like AND ANOTHER THING!!! tbh i don’t think like….russos are smart enough to turn it around and like….had they been smart there really were so many wonderful ways they could have dealt with the asgardians, loki, thor and the tasseract. like the end of ragnarok really left them with a magnificent playground but they really went out of their way to do the most predictable shit possible. 

FUCK even a simple scene where loki tries to tell thor about the tasseract and i dont know something blows up and they’re separated WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER THAN THE SHIT WE GOT.  fuck, loki USING the tasseract and getting the fuck away from thanos, effectively luring thanos away from the asgardians WOULD HAVE BEEN FUCKING GREAT. and we could have had the thor & loki arc as them trying to get back to each other and murder thanos and save what’s left of their people BUT LIKE THAT WOULD HAVE REQUIRED SITTING DOWN AND ACTUALLY THINKING OF A PLOT. there’s that bit where loki disappears in iw and it’s so awkwardly shot and like if i were generous i’d be like OH MAYBE THIS WILL COME TO PLAY LATER but i’m not cos this movie was so stupid. i guess we’ll have to wait and see.

1) I mean, I too refuse to believe anything other than Tony surgically implanting the arc reactor again b/c Steve broke his metaphoric heart, so next time if Steve goes for the reactor again, Tony wants him to just break his physical heart and finish it. BUT, Tony and Pepper's exchange (and especially her point of contention with the reactor— even though she accepts iron man) makes me think that while the reactor is detachable (smart, b/c it may get damaged) the ports are all surgical.

           2) Their exchange went like this— "If you wanted to have a kid you wouldn’t have done that. / [...] It’s nothing; it’s just a housing for nanoparticles. It’s detachable. / You don’t need that. / I know I had the surgery— I’m just trying to protect us." If he could just take it off w/o any other consequence, she wouldn't hate it. It would be like his  watch or his bracelets that called the armour. *I'm so biased about this though*

I kind of feel like the whole movie had a very strong underlying thread of "events of CW is partly to blame for the Avengers not being ready" and the whole point of the next movie HAS to be the reconciliation. I'm not saying we'll spend a long time on Steve & Tony stuff, but I also can't imagine it being swept under the rug since literally this whole movie they were the ONLY two people who did not reconcile! That has to be meaningful. (But that's a thought for 2019.)

I’m not sure I agree with that, because I think what the movie really shows is that there was no way for them to ever be ready? Tony prepared for 6 years while no one listened to him and he wasn’t ready. (Which is also why I hate that scene with Bruce in the beginning, because IT’S TONY! HE KNOWS THEY’RE COMING HE’S ALWAYS KNOWN FFS HE WOULD SPRING INTO ACTION IMMEDIATELY.)

And yeah, obviously the movie made a point of showing the Accords were bad, but IT MADE NO SENSE AT ALL, considering THAT WAS CLEARLY A SITUATION DESIGNED TO ALLOW FOR THE AVENGERS TO FIGHT, I MEAN, A LITERAL ALIEN INVASION OH M Y GOD.

I do feel like Steve/Tony working together has to be a huge part of Av4 and saving the world together and all, but I’m not sure how it’ll be handled exactly. (I also reallyyyyyyy avoid set pictures and stuff). Still, a year to wait is better than two years :P
