in relation to this post now imagine what it would mean if Zen and Izana were women — I mean would it really change anything? would it change everything? would either or both of them be raised differently? would Izana be trained the same as the future queen? would that mean neither really has to know swordplay? if Izana stays the same, does it mean Zen would be treated even more as a spare throw away girl? I mean if she's just the second princess does she really need to know how to ride a horse, fight with a sword and battle strategy? should she be focused on just the "womanly" aspects of royal life? OR would she be given a free hand you-do-whatever treatment and be actually allowed to do everything real Zen does if not more? thoughts thoughts thoughts

CONFESSION: I much prefer episodes 8-11 of the anime to volumes 3-4 of the manga. I like Shirayuki meeting Kihal before her meeting with Zen rather than after, OBI ONLY JUMPS FROM THE TOWER AFTER SHIRAYUKI IN THE ANIME, the confession in the anime just makes me feel MORE than in the manga, and there's one very specific moment in the Mitsuhide flashback where we see Izana genuinely panicked for a split second that only happens in the anime.
