IZUKI HOURS #3

I'm in a shipping mood today~ so I'll be critiquing all Izuki ships I have seen! I'll list out pros and cons of each. This might get long lmao.

HyuuIzu - the top Izuki ship on Ao3! (Good job, me 😂) It holds a special place in my heart, I have shipped them since June 2017 (I'm a late entrant to KuroBasu xD). In fact, tomorrow is the three year anniversary of the day I got into KnB and fell in love with them!!  Pros: captain x vice captain, childhood friends, know each other very well, opposites but actually kinda similar, opposites attract, really cute tgt, SO MUCH ANGST WRINGER, fluff too though... tbh sooooo much potential for literally everything. Just perfection. (wdym I'm biased shut the fuck up) Cons: kinda one-sided as Izuki gives more for Hyuuga than Hyuuga does for him.

TakaIzu - a fun ship!! I really see them as friends more but I love the dynamic authors bring about. Pros: really fun, lots of crack AND angst material, cool concept, idioms, PUNPPORTUNITIES. Cons: crackshipping, no real canon basis, a little too similar imo?

KiyoIzu - cute asf!! Kiyoshi's super supportive of Izuki and finds his puns funny, an automatic point in my book. Pros: fluuuuffff!!! so so so much fluff. Perfect for AUs. Complement each other on and off court. Cons: Kiyoshi's loving nature may be too much for the more private Izuki.

IzuRiko - awww just awesome shit!! Riko’s badass nature matches perfectly with Izuki’s more relaxed personality. + they’re just super cute.  Pros: Izuki knows her well and knows to let her lead. Riko knows what works best for Izuki and will bring out the best in him. Fluff/angst potential, 100%. Cons: Riko’s kind of bossy and snaps at Izuki’s puns. Also, Izuki’s privateness might be too much for Riko, who’s also not so open.

HimuIzu - lol this is really more of me and @kibashinosss‘s interactions, so I’m using our stuff, Seb! lots and lots of angst, some fluff and TONS OF HORRIBLE FLIRTING. It’s hilarious in concept bc theyre so different lmao Pros: funny as fuck, crack/fluff/angst perfection (esp angst though), pretty boysssss Cons: Himuro needs someone more open and Izuki needs someone less pushy.

MayuZuki - lmao I’ve seen a lot of fem!Izu with Mayu and I gotta say... eeeeehhh. Still, it’s cute in concept and the few IzuMayu fics I did read were amazing. Pros: crack ship king, lots of potential, can go literally anywhere Cons: kinda bland really, also Mayu’s very selfish and Izuki’s very withdrawn so... kinda difficult to work.

There may be a part 2 if I think of more ships!! Thanks for putting up with me guys lmao

with 2 sisters izuki is like really good at painting nails especially doing super intricate stuff and so whenever he and riko get bored he'll paint her nails while she goes over training ideas

Aah yes this gives me. Feelings bc idk if you have been around when I’ve talked abt it but I pretty much always hc Izuki as trans, and like!! yes, izuki & riko chilling & izuki getting to use his mad nails skills on someone who isn’t himself & also isn’t a squirmy little sister

plus i really love the idea of riko being like. her lovely tomboyish self but with beautiful intricate nails. she’ll still punch you in the mouth tho. 100%

who cooks normally?

Izuki. After all, is better to eat something disgusting than get a food poisoning.

how often do they fight?

They don’t really fight. Riko can’t be mad at Izuki when he is making a lot of puns to stop her anger.

what do they do when they’re away from each other?

Riko is focused on training people who came to the gym (she thinks about Izuki at night and misses him), while Izuki writes down and send her every pun he just made.

nicknames for each other?

Izuki calls Riko “Coach” or “Babe”, while she calls him “Ace” (of course first he needs to earn it)

who is more likely to pay for dinner?

Izuki, but sometimes Riko pays (when her boyfriend forgets his wallet).

who steals the covers at night?

Riko. She easily gets cold (≧∇≦)/

what would they get each other for gifts?

Izuki buys some funny things, while Riko gets for him some useful things, like new scarf.

who kissed who first?

Izuki was shy, so it was Riko

who made the first move?

Same as above. Izuki is really shy when it comes to love (/ω＼)

who remembers things?

First only Riko, but Izuki forgot only once. ONLY ONCE. And he never repeated that mistake.

who started the relationship?

Again, Riko ^^

who cusses more?

Riko :3

what would they do if the other one was hurt?

If someone hurts Riko, Izuki will get really angry (no more jokes!). And if someone hurts Izuki… well. He or she will never make this mistake. Never again.

His hand encases hers and his smile is dazzling (she can’t deny his attractiveness, but it’s more than this, it’s the way he smiles for her). He’s the perfect height for her to lean against his shoulder and she knows exactly how strong he is, how much force she can put on him.

“Look, Riko!” he says, pointing to a window display. “Isn’t it cute?”

He’s not really into cute things, but that knowledge escapes her in the moment as she rushes to press her face close to the glass. Bunny stationary, plush cats, candies in pink wrappers—she blushes and steps back a little bit.

“It’s okay to be cute-rious, Riko.”

It’s almost freezing out as the sun’s hazy glow is barely visible from behind the winter clouds. Despite his terrible puns, there’s a warmth somewhere inside of her as he hugs her from behind and kisses the nape of her neck, and she has no idea where it came from.
