You’re one of the best friends I’ve ever had. Thanks for making life more bearable. Thanks for making me laugh. Thanks for being there for me when I was sad even if you didn’t know what to say and was scared of saying something insensitive. You were and always have been a great friend. All of this means so much to me. I’m so glad God gave me you.

One of my favorite things is when you and your friend best friend are texting late at night. You seem to never run out of things to talk about. They always make you laugh and tease you. You’re just happy as you both banter back and forth. As you wait for them to message you, you think back on why you love this person and all the good times you’ve had together. For a while, everything in the world feels ok. You have your friend and they have you. At the end of the day, they’re one of the the few people in life who really matter; the friend who will text you for hours about everything and nothing.

I love my friends. I feel like I can be myself around them. I can be weird, joke around, and laugh and they’ll both do it with me. I don’t have to be on guard or put up a wall. I feel like I belong when I’m around them. For once, I don’t feel like I’m the unnecessary friend who gets left out. I love what we all have. We always have a good time when our group gets together. We’re silly and we know it. We’re all a little weird, but we love it. We have inside jokes and nicknames. It’s all I’ve ever wanted in a friendship. I’m glad I get to be a part of this with them.

Keep the friends that make you realize that life isn’t so scary or sad. Keep the friends who laugh at anything and tease you. Keep the friends who will talk to you about whatever because you’re comfortable with each other. Because when you think the world is lonely and overwhelming and you’re feeling hopeless and depressed, these friends will say something that will make it go away for a while. Keep those friends. They are rare in this world.
